Ali gets busted up with Wladimir's piston-like jabs.

He wouldn't be stood in front of him. A 1967 version of Ali would have been up on his toes dancing for the full 15 if needed. I just don't see how Wlad could have coped with his movement.

Liston had a longer reach, MUCH harder jab, at least equal power with the right hand, better footwork and he could throw combinations. He was a vicious finisher and had a much better chin. By the time he fought Ali he was probably in his 40's, ancient in those days. Prime Sonny Liston would probably open a 4-1 favorite against Wlad AT LEAST. That's because bookies know boxing. You, on the other hand, DKSAB. Wlad would never touch Ali, he'd eat 15 shots for every glancing blow he managed to land against an Ali who could stick and move for 15 rounds and shrug off his best shots even if lightning struck and Wlad managed to hit him.

Frazier would maul him, it's not a competitive fight. Bob Foster would stretch Haye brutally.

Why don't you stop trolling and show some respect.

    Frazier a lemon? :patsch

Why don't you have a proper debate?

I'm all for having a laugh and a joke, but now it's getting ridiculous.

Everyone knows the tactics that Ali employed for the Foreman fight. He knew he wasn't able to dance for 15 rounds like he did before the ban, and he knew he wasn't strong enough to go toe to toe with George. So he let George fire away and watched him tire out.

If George had've been around in the 60's, Ali would never have fought that way.

So Ali would never have only have been able to dance for 2 rounds against Wlad. He would have sustained it, and Wlad would be powerless. A 1967 Ali, was completely different to the 74 version who fought George.

There's no way Wlad could have coped with Ali's footwork, darting in and out of range, circling him, and then coming in with blazing combinations.

Wlad would have been completely bewildered.

    Glover,

Looking at how Foreman beat Frazier, does not tell us that Wlad would have handled Joe the same. I don't think Wlad would have the same mindset as George. I think Wlad has had confidence issues over his chin sometimes, and he's fought cautious in the past. Frazier would have gone straight at Wlad without a care in the world.

Pick ten weight classes, and then name the best 5-10 fighters that's ever fought there, and lets see how many modern fighters make the list.

Fighters in all weight classes fought more in the past.

Running in army boots would have been hell, and it would have given the fighters a huge psychological lift after they'd completed the run.

I think George would have had a fair chance of stopping him, and Frazier would definitely have caused Wlad's problems.

    Part 2.

    Running away?

    Ha! Good one!

You mean circling a fighter, and firing the jab and fast combinations then stepping back out of range again?

There's no way you've even seen Ali's footwork in the 60's.

What you've wrote is just pure comedy.

Wlad's best wins are a joke, and your little comments at the side of each fighter, made me laugh out loud.

    Frazier - Handicapped dwarf.

Haye - stellar opponent who'd have been champ in the 60's and 70's.

Thompson - Nobody would have been a threat to him, apart from George.

Haye gets hit an awful lot, because he's copied his style from Roy. But Roy had amazing footwork and reflexes to avoid getting hit. Haye's got a very poor defence, leaving his left arm hanging low. He gets hit way more than he should do.

A peak Ali was very hard to hit clean.

    Ha!

    Glover,

There's really no point in me replying to what you've wrote. It's not because I'm being rude, it's because it would just be a complete waste of time.

I'm going to leave the thread shortly, but before I go, I just wanted to clear up a few things.

You say that modern fighters are better than the older fighters, and skills have greatly improved? So, I'd like to ask you and the other members, to name the all time top 5, or top 10 fighters from the following weight classes:

    HW
    WW
    MW
    LHW
    LW
    LMW

+ any others if you wish?

Let's see how many modern fighters make the cut

Finally, lets do a head to head breakdown of skills between Ali and Wlad. We can just put an A or a W next to each attribute. Lets see who comes out on top.

    Power
    Defence
    Strength
    Jab
    Skill
    Hand speed
    Shot selection
    Footwork
    Reflexes
    Chin
    Heart
    Timing
    Durability

+ anymore you can think of.

    Thanks!

Would that Clay take the bombs that Wach took? He couldn't handle 14st Coopers left hook. Best cruiserweight Clay can hope for is a decision.
