But if we use Mayweather's logic we then have to rate him as the greatest fighter ever.

Or do we get to pick and choose when to use his logic?

If Canelo feels like the extra 2 lbs will adversely affect him, he should just screw it and come in at 154. But i'm sure Floyd being a smart businessman made sure the penalty is very stiff.

Why, so you can make more threads bitching about haters?
    I don't get it.

He'll lose a lot of $$$... I'm positive Floyd made sure Canelo keeps motivated to make 152 by getting a huge penalty per pound... in any case (for critics of this specific catchweight) it's just two mo'fu***ng pounds, specially done for a guy that likes to come well above 154!!

    karma time,

Canelo should come in at 154...

pay the man 600k for each pound...

then proceed to kick his ass.

Just 2lbs? For a guy that cuts so much it could be the difference between seeing the final bell and gassing mid-late in the fight.

For people who are actually interested in boxing, this is a great fight.

For those only interested in trolling and hating, well, it should whet your appetites as well.

    :deal

No doubt, canelo has been doing basic training and still comes in at a comfortable 153 1/2 an extra pound wont be much!

the stars aligned in a way that Floyd had no other option but to take a risky fight for a change, toughest fight for Floyd since DLH, at least on paper. Mayweather taking a fight that people actually wants to see is incredibly rare

Even 1 lb can make a huge difference if you are at the point where your body just can't lose any more weight.

A lot of people wanted to see the Mosley and Cotto fights. We would've had the Pacquaio fight too if team Pacquiao wasn't being so difficult.

Not big on the catchweight for this fight. But, Canelo must be confident in losing the 2 extra pounds. A small price to pay for a shot at the best fighter, a career high payday and two major titles. Looking forward to this fight.

Leonard had a catch-weight with Hagler at 158lbs and Hagler wasn't 22lbs bigger than Leonard on the "night of" weigh-ins.

    now go to bed

The only catchweight that has an intention to favor Pac are:

    1. Pac - ODLH (which backfired)
    2. Pac - Cotto (since Pac never fought against a real 147 contender)

Pac - Margarito's catchweight was put in place IN FAVOR OF MARGARITO. The same Margarito who has always fought in the 147 division, won a belt there and has always been comfortable at the weight, was given a pass to be a blown up WW on the scales. He consequently had a 17lb advantage to Pac on fight night.

Pac - JMM's catchweight was put in place IN FAVOR OF JMM, who, at the time, was still getting comfortable at WW, but had a fight at JrWW ALREADY. Pac's 147 belt was on the line too, mind you. Nonetheless, the weight shouldn't matter since Pac and JMM has always had nearly identical fight night weights throughout the years.
