How would a prime Oleg Maskaev handle a prime:

    1. Ruslan Chagaev

    2. Sultan Ibragimov

    3. Alexander Povetkin

    4. Sergei Liakhovich

I actually think all three at their own respectable best are better natural athletes and better technicians and none of them jump out at me as being susceptible to Maskaev putting them out with a big single shot, with power I think he possessed more of than any of the other three, but there you have it. I cannot think of a reason to directly favour him over any. :conf But, I'll tell you, one of my favourite moments was when Springsteen tried to do the high harmony with Maskaev, during the rehearsal for the Black & White Night concert. Heh. Oh, Bruce. You've got to go low with The Big O, my brother.

Liked the analysis up until you completely lost me here. What reference is this?

I would not pick Oleg to win a match, but if he had three tries he'd likely win one. I think he matches up best vs povetkin.

I actually think Ibragimov is the best of this group. Sultan would be too wily and awkwardly clever for Maskaev. Oleg would stand better chances with the other two IMO.

Gimme the wolf. More athletic, and had the type of angled attack to give the fundamental Maskaev fits.

Wolf can be countered, he has tells, but Maskaev doesn't work the counters, preferring offense off his own leads most times.

Too slow for Ibragimov, too basic for Chagaev, too stiff for Povetkin. Underrated though.

Ibragimov had a lot going for him and a decent chin, hard to tell with Povetkin he looked better in his last fight despite the level of competition we may see more from him.

Sergei and Oleg could go either way but I like the body and head attack by SL both could be caught and both could crack

For all those saying that Oleg loses to these guys, are which ones do you think knock him out, as opposed to outpoint him?
