Anyone can see that Mitchell smith or kal yafai have all the talent to be very good indeed but it's much harder to spot a rough diamond So with the thought that you can bring this back up to prove that you know what your on about or so people can laugh at your pathetic predictions.what are your dark horses, unobvious successes for the future for example Steve Robinson, chris Edwards,Jamie McDonnell all have achieved much more than expected So at the risk of looking stupid my picks are Erik ochieng The thread earlier made me think about this.probaly only expected to go to British level I think he has the ability and workrate to achieve even possibly at world level He has excellent defensive skills, great movement with his feet and upper body and a superb variety of textbook shots The quigley fight shows he can dig in and go toe to toe at a fast pace whilst still retaining his skills Tough fight ahead with Liam smith but I fancy him to take it and move onwards John dignum Really risky and potential to look a muppet here as he has had a poor start to life as a pro and it looks like frank has given up on him worryingly as he has him planned to go up against another of his former amateur star prospects Tom baker Dignum is young and has been bullied but if and it's a big if he can adapt to the pro game and gain his man strength/weight work then he has all the ability He really is a tidy little boxer, all of the basics done with high accuracy and timing topped off with great counters and reactions.i really like him but feel I'm Thinking with my heart not my head here Danny price Gone under the radar considering he was an international amateur and was signed as a pro when frank Maloney was on sky.he has stuck with frank and his progress has been slow without any firm tests but he is young and inexperienced so no concerns really.he needs exposure maybe higher up on David prices undercards For his height he has lovely movement in and out range, his shot selection is improving as is his power but I just feel he could box the ears off some of our cruisers at the moment but he will have stiff competition from Stephen Simmons another hidden gem So there's mine.3 I think will go much further than expected and 3 lovely boxers
They definitely have everything to do it But for me degale should whereas unless matchroom reenergise Mitchell his best chance was after the Murray fight when he was hot property and he ****ed about
Had an eye on Danny Price for a while (no homo) & I like his style, also in the cruiser division Keane, Vallily & Jumah are worth watching. Sam O'Maison http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=608443&cat=boxer A young lightweight out of Ingle gym who looks very promising, definitely one for the future.
I think from what I have seen... Neil Perkins the Middleweight who trains with David Price and won bronze in the world amateurs years ago could do well if he got more opportunities. I think Ian Lewison could win a British title if he was more dedicated and got more opportunities, he is starting to look even better now. I also think Darren Hamilton looks very difficult to beat at British level, will be interesting to see how his fight with Adil Anwar goes.
I don't know if you'd consider him a dark horse, but a while back, probably a year ago now I predicted Tyson Fury would not only win a world title but become heir to throne and rule the heavyweight division one day. I'm still standing by it. I reckon Hughie will go far too.
Ian Lewison - Had a very average start to his pro career due to his clear lack of dedication in the training department. However, he gave a good account of himself in one of the better prizefighter tournaments and he really should have been in the final with Audrey. He had a stellar amateur record and was very competitive against David Price in the ABA finals a couple of years ago. He even defeated the likes of Odlanier Solis and Robert Helenius, so he definitely has a lot of promise as a professional. His main problem has been his inactivity, perhaps he should consider leaving Goodwin.
I was laughed at on here, when way before the 2012 Olympics. I stated that Anthony Ogogo will be the biggest star to come out of the Olympics, and will translate better into the professional ranks. At the time when i made this statement Anthony Ogogo had not even qualified for the Olympics. I was completely right!
Got a feeling Crolla could do something in this sport the way Burns turned it around, Rocky Fieldings coming along nicely although hes in one of the hardest domestic divisions, anyone know why Mark Heffrons so quiet these days ?
I think Crolla will beat Rees. At the same time the fights I've seen of both have probably been Rees at his worst and Crolla at his best, but I just felt there was something in Crolla when I seen him.
