You figure he will catch him cold early, like Kim did? Gethin isn't exactly a wrecking machine, the best he's put away is Johanneson. The blitz to Kim is Diaz's only stoppage loss in over four years, and he's fought a few decent sorts in that span. I know Gethin's TKO loss to Scott Lawton was on cuts, but he is as likely to get knocked out by Diaz as to knock him out - if not likelier.
You've negated your own point and illustrated the argument for a rematch here while railing against it. :yep One's editorial opinion of Gonzalez's exit bears no relevance on the fact that he was closer to defeating Burns than anyone since Rocky Martinez.
Gethin's latest, against Ben Murphy: [DM]xwve47[/DM] Diaz's latest, against Stanley Mendez: http://tvmax-9.com/deportes/videos/video.asp?id=3944 Both showcases.
if he got robbed fiar enogh, but he quit in a fight that he was winning, fighters with no heart dont deserve rematches. i believe burns was lucky but the loss is down to gonzalous
this He could have continue but he didn't want to. It was up to him. Pain vs belt and he chose pain. And to be honest I think it was more like a broken heart than pain.. Makes it more worse.
Tough crowd. :think Chelo put on the sort of performance that usually gains one respect, but that last impression seems to be the lasting one. Anyway, that's quite far enough hijacking this into a Burns thread. :yep There is precious little footage of Gethin available...is that Frank's doing? Part of his usual copyrights paranoia, or limiting opponents' ability to scout Martin? :think
Can the Brits shed a bit of light on the co-feature? Chris Keane vs. Neil Dawson 10x3 for the vacant WBO International cruiserweight title Dawson I remember being very competitive with Matty Askin before getting stopped, my first time seeing him on Sky a couple of years ago. He's since had ups and downs, edging out Menay Edwards in a shootout and smashing unbeaten Tony Conquest in two minutes flat only to get eliminated in the Prizefighter quarterfinal by Danny McIntosh. Keane I'm much less familiar with. His surge of combination punching to make Shane McPhilbin crumble (after lulling him with a relaxed start behind his jab) was impressive - and his resume has obviously not been padded with many tomato cans, including a KO1 over a 4-0 fellow prospect and shutting out premium Lithuanian journeyman extraordinaire Remy Ziausus. Is Dawson too far up a step for him?
I think Keane will beat Dawson by KO, I think Gethin will lose on points. He has done well to rebuild his career but he is not a world level operator.
The general feeling is Dawson has been picked as the perfect match for his development Keane is big powerful and throws good combos You have all the relevant info it seems,Dawkins win over conquest was a shock but you have to give him credit the shot was a beauty.they were planned to rematch but it fell through Dawson has gone from being inactive to getting out regularly the last few months so I've gone for a stab in the dark and predicted he stops keane To be fair keane has shown no signs of being fragile I've just punted on Dawsons much harder past fights meaning he has too much for keane now I'm probably wrong as everyone else I know has gone keane ko but although Dawsons not a world beater he is a big step up from the terrible Shane mcphilbin
Gonzalez used up all his energy early in the fights and won rounds, then gassed badly and got stopped. Not Burns fault Gonzalez didn't know how to fight for 12 rounds.
