Sadly, we will probably never see the fight due to the promoters. Mares is made to order for Rigondeaux. Guillermo would outbox him all night to win a decision. I think Donaire is a tougher fight for Rigondeaux than Mares.

I think Rigo wins, but I think Mares will be a harder fight for him than Donaire, even though I think Donaire would beat Mares if they ever fought

I think Mares is a lot more capable than Donaire fighting on the front foot and playing the role of aggressor. He'd make it a much more active and uncomfortable night for Rigondeaux, though he could get KTFO in the process. He also doesn't have ***** in him. That might sound wildly disrespectful, but I'm serious. Donaire started to come mentally undone after the first hard, clean counter from Rigo landed on him. I'd bet everything but the shirt off my back Mares does not.

I agree that Donaire would beat Mares. You might be right about Mares being a tougher fight for Rigondeaux, but I really think his style is more suited for Rigo. And I am talking about a fight at 122 lbs., though I would still pick Rigo to win against Mares even at 126 lbs.

If he beats him hes P4P number 2 in the world after Floyd Mayweather. I'm an Andre Ward fan but the man is not active enough to stay at number 2. He still has no fights fixed yet.

Also how is he not in the Ring top 10? Disgusting!

depends what floyd does. floyd is 1. if beats canelo he stays 1, if he struggles with canelo, but wins close and rigo totaly dismantles mares, than we have a new king of boxing.

You know, I was surprised to see Donaire kind of coming apart against Rigondeaux. But, we never saw Donaire facing real adversity in the ring. He was always the guy in control.

Mares is a mentally strong fighter and is THE opponent I want to see Rigondeaux fight. Mares is a legit top pound-for-pound guy and it would prove a lot if Guillermo could outbox him the way I believe he can. Even though Mares doesn't have a ton of KO's, he can hit. He surprised me with his destruction of Ponce De Leon. I expected Mares to win, but not in that fashion. He could pose a threat to Rigo, but I still believe that stylistically he is right for "El Chacal".

I know. I have given up on the Ring's P4P list. I still like their divisional rankings, but their P4P is some hot garbage.

Fully agree with this, I still favour Rigo.

Mares gets hit a lot, not good against Rigo. Rigo would break him down somewhat.

    Number 2.

Rigo/Mares is a 50/50 fight for me, ill probably lean towards Rigo just a little bit.

    Mares beats Donaire. :deal

^ Many will disagree with that, but Mares has the tools to outbox him IMO.

  12. Rigo already beat mares in the amatures. 17-7 hahahahah

Guillermo Rigondeaux has proven himself in the pros. Abdullaev never did.

Mares beats Rigo and Donaire on the same night.
