    Round 7

Gethin is battling with a slow jab and some straightaway 1-2s but can barely keep his arms together, looking half asleep. Diaz remains cautious, however, circling left and letting his jab drop from waistband to face. Fairly close round so far considering how close Diaz was to stopping him in the last one. BIG clubbing right by Diaz and Gethin takes another knee. Foster counts in his face. Gethin says he is OK. Double jab by Diaz, and looping right near the back of the head as Gethin clinches. Lead rights between the gloves by Diaz. HARD overhand right by Diaz snaps Gethin's head back. Gethin summons up his reserves and shoeshines Diaz into the ropes. Diaz whips him with another right hand upstairs. Gethin takes one more knee. He stays down.

    TKO7!!

Diaz beating a domestic level fighter good stuff. Now Diaz has a title fight? Nobody wants to see Diaz getting schooled again!

This confirmed my suspicions that Gethin was not anywhere near world class. But then again Diaz isn't really likely to have a chance with Vasquez. Bit of a shitty eliminator. But not a bad fight.

First time I saw him. Not a great fighter. Slow, open, looks like he cant take a good shot and as you said flat footed. This guy gets another title shot after beating a domestic level fighter.:patsch:patsch:patsch

Who said Gethin is world class? Diaz for me is also not world class. Will get schooled again. I hope Vazquez fights Burns.

He deserves his IBF ranking based on his sum body of work over the last few years. He is ranked in position to challenge again, even if El Titere already repelled him in one-sided fashion.

Like I analogized in the other thread, it's the same as Thompson 'deserving' a rematch by maintaining his IBF ranking despite having been crushed once already.

Fair is fair. I hope Diaz gets another chance. Besides, unlike Burns, he actually has the one-shot power to maybe catch Miguel with a lucky hail-Mary.

I reckon we will see diaz over here again. Someone with a good workrate willl fancy their chances against him and he wont be the most expensive fighter in the world to get over.

Diaz is not even a world class fighter! Thats why I find it strange that he gets another title shot (after getting schooled) by beating a domestic level fighter. One shot KO power? I did not saw that. Gethin took many good shots. Yet it was more a quit than a KO. And I dont see Diaz knocking a skilled fighter like Vazquez out. If they fight again Vazquez will school Diaz again. First time I saw him and I really saw nothing except good power. I dont think many people want to see this fight again. Burns is a much better fighter than Diaz and he could give Vazquez more problems than Diaz will. And I also think Diaz would have lost today if he had fought a decent fighter. Yet Gethin is just domestic level nothing more.
TT becoming mandatory was also strange. Because he did not even won his eliminator fight. Maybe you are right and Diaz deserves another shot. I just think there are MUCH better fights out there. Vazquez-Burns would be huge in the UK.

Please Vazquez fight Burns or another champion. Not Diaz again.

Plenty of time for Vazquez to squeeze in his Diaz obligation over the summer. :D
