Being reported on five live this morning... Froch the throwback gladiator will fight anyone, anywhere. :bbb
I'd bloody love to see Froch in a Vegas megafight. Would it sell though? I'd rather watch him against JCC to be honest, more entertaining fight which he should win and would surely sell better across the pond?
There'll be no fight then. Ward holds all the cards, including the right to dictate the venue.... it'll either be Oakland or not at all. I'm not convinced there's much point fighting Ward again, Carl is on the crest of a wave having rebounded from that defeat with two excellent wins and a stay busy... including avenging his other defeat. He'd only get well beaten again, I'm not sure there's the time to come back from that. Sometimes you've just got to accept that you've lost to the better man and make as much of yourself as you can.... obviously Carl isn't the type to wank over a silver medal the way Roger Black did though.
Froch Chavez jnr I could see being a Vegas fight but then again it would probaly end up in texas Froch ward/Hopkins are the other 2 big fights out there and neither would be a great spectacle so would it attract Vegas, probaly not
Ward won't sell in Vegas, he holds none of the cards he's a mild draw in Oakland and outside of that nobody is interested. The sad reality is ward plays second fiddle now, the onliners love him but the casuals don't know or care about him and that means no cards for ward. If ward won't fight froch outside Oakland he won't make money, simple
How does Ward hold all the cards ? He's fought once in 2012 & not at all so far in 2013, there's no big demand for him to fight again and he isn't a draw anywhere other than Oakland. If he's not willing to leave his hometown he hasn't got many options, what big money fights are out there for him ? Froch is in a different position, he's a massive draw in the UK and doesn't mind traveling, he has an exciting style and prospective opponents will fancy their chances more against him than Ward plus there's more money for facing Froch than Ward. Froch holds all the cards, he doesn't need Ward, he can make just as much money fighting other guys. Who can Ward fight that will pay as much as Froch ? No one.
Ward holds the cards because he's #1 in the division, with a dominant win over Froch already. We might not like it, and the fact that he and other Americans are ridiculously reluctant to travel, and use it as an excuse if they lose a questionable decision (as if none ever happen over there :nut) is frustrating, but that's just the way it is. Froch can carry on being #2 for as long as he wants, smacking around all comers to his heart's content - having hammered Bute and got the W over Kessler.... but he still won't ever be #1 unless Ward moves up. And even then, it's a somewhat hollow placing in his mind, no doubt. Some of Ward's decision making has been questionable, ducking Bute was a shocking error of judgement - at the time, and even more so in hindsight.... coupled with some injury problems it's been a frustrating couple of years for him. Strange how things turn out, after their fight a lot of people, including Steve Bunce, were calling for Froch to fight a bus driver in a farewell fight and then call it quits, instead he took Bute and blasted him, all of a sudden he's in his prime again. He'll be the Duran of this era, shot one minute, prime the next, faded, then shot, then ''not ready'' again.
This is prizefighting, it's a business, a money game Ward may be the champion of your heart but his cash value is lower than froch Froch holds the cards
For the record I'm not exactly a Ward fan, and are probably one of the biggest Froch fans on here. Ward is just better than he is, unfortunately.
Good for Carl - pretty hollow victory though. "Yeah, I was never the best, but at least I made the money." Not really the warrior ethic is it, but it's funny how that gets turned off when it suits the argument. I 100% respect if Froch wants to fight in the UK from now on, but he doesn't have the "right" to demand Ward fights where he wants. He lost to Ward. That's the reality of it and he's the one who needs to set the record straight, not the other way around. It might seem odd when Froch apparently makes the money (although, we don't really know that yet), so perhaps he can dictate the lion's share of the purse in return for going to the US.
Would love to see a Froch Vs Ward fight, but I think Hearn is trying to steer Froch towards a fight Vs Groves perhaps next summer. IF Froch does get a rematch against Ward, I think Froch wins. He's been busier and had big fights, Ward hasn't done a lot since the last fight due to injury.
Froch said on SSN the other day that if Ward was waiting for him to go across to the US to fight he would be waiting a long time but Carl hasn't stopped talking since Saturday night, so he may have said something different in an other interview. I think they both need each other . I can see this fight happening but not in the next 12 months. Eddie will want to milk Carl for further PPV's before putting him back in with Ward where he will more than likely get beaten again.
I really don't see why Ward vs Froch would take place in Vegas and sell about 7,000 tickets, when it could take place at Wembley and feasibly sell 40,000+. Froch vs Kessler sold 19,000 tickets in about 3 hours and ALOT of people who wanted tickets couldn't get them. After the casuals seeing Froch vs Kessler II they will 100% be interested in his next fight and, if it's against the man who beat him, that interest would be even bigger. I wouldn't at all be surprised if it sold more than 50,000 at Wembley.
