If this is a close fight they might give the decision to Canelo which pretty match guarantees Showtime a rematch or even a trilogy. :hey

    Canelo is 22yo, not 23

and even green and probably drained like he'll be on fight night, he has a better chance at winning than the cherrypicked no hopers Floyd has feasted on for the last decade

    A few quick points;

    1) Canelo V Cotto could make sense leading up to a eventual showdown with money. It would give Canelo exposure as a PPV headliner and add some weight to claim to step foot in the ring with Mayweather

    2) Mayweather V Khan could make sense first because Khan is a solid name but is vulnerable and could lose before Floyds remain 4 fights are done thus limiting the number of quality opp after this fight.

    3) 1 pound will not make a huge difference for Canelo (he came in at 153 in his last fight) Canelo is young and can recover rather quickly. if he was in his 30s it may have been harder on his body.

    4) re hydration for Canelo id far more important than weigh in weight. He will have 20-25 weight advantage come fight night.

    5) Either he or Floyd could get injured if they have fights in between

    6) Cinnamon is the heavy underdog and has a lot less pressure since no one expects him to win.

    7) Floyd is not getting any younger and he could be catching Mayweather at the right time.

    8) if he makes it a close fight in a lose it will only raise his stock.

All things considered this is low risk (because everyone expects him to lose and plus the catchweight clause) and HIGH reward (10 million payday and international exposure).

The only way it could be a bad move for Canelo is if you think that he will get completely embarrassed or even KOed by a fighter 25 lbs lighter. i sense that the TS has very little faith In canelo

Anyone bleating about the 2lb catch weight needs to get a grip. Floyd needs to go up in weight for this fight and will likely be the same on the scales as he is in the ring. Canelo on the other hand needs to lose a paltry 2lb, if that, to make weight making him 152 instead of 154lb and then will rehydrate north of 170lb for his in ring weight giving him a massive weight/power advantage on the night.

This is a hell of a fight for Floyd to take and given the decline in Pacquiao and the heavier Martinez this is probably the best fight out there for the fans and a dangerous undertaking for the unbeaten Mayweather no matter which way you slice it. If a 170lb+ Canelo lands flush on Floyd he's getting hurt.

and gains way more popularity just from being mentioned alongside and fighting mayweather. he's got nothing to lose and everything to gain including $$$$. at 22 it will be no problem to return and rebuild and no one will give him **** for losing to mayweather. Even if he gets his ass kicked he can still carve out a great career, half pros ain't even pros yet at 22.

Whether he gets an ass whoopin or pulls an upset victory its a good experience for Canelo. It's not like Floyd's a big puncher. Not like Trinidad vs Vargas. Canelo can take more risks.

The catchweight is his built-in excuse, in case he loses. He can just claim he was drained. So there's no danger of hurting his rep.

And you seriously think he'd make more $$$ fighting Cotto? What drugs are you taking? :nut

No,,, you are clearly the idiot.

Canelo is a fighter, an undefeated champion with 40+ pro fights who wants to dare to be great by challenging himself against the very best.

He's giving the fans the fight they want,,, and making 10 mill to boot... and if he loses... So fkn what!?!!

    Whats wrong with that?

No, he has everything to gain from this fight. Money, recognition on the PPV, exposure from the promotion, and it's a learning fight. Even if he loses, if he makes Floyd work for the W, then it's a fight he can learn from and use to improve.
