yer i know i was here to see the threads immediately after the guerrero fight sprayed over this board screaming floyd is scared and will not face canelo etc etc "its the fight we have all wanted to see"

but i dont think you can refute he is the best available option for floyd

At 154 no doubt about it.

At 152 i dont know how that is going to affect Drainedelo.

And no one has answered why can't floyd have fraught Martinez, or ward at 160

Purely for legacy ward at 160 is on the level of haggler Leonard

not sure he has ever expressed any trouble making weight at 154 and he is a small 154 fighter so hopefully shouldnt have much of an issue

if he goes into this fight expressing trouble making weight then id take alot of credit from mayweather but its still a great fight

floyd cant even make 154 on fight night? and martinez would be considered a **** pick after his last performance

asking floyd to move to 160 is suicide at this point in his career

edit: and SRL weighed in at 158lb for hagler (cant find his fightnight weight) so coming in 2lb under the limit is alot different to coming in 152

Yup it was the best fight that could have been made no doubt about it.

I think Mayweather would win even if Canelo weighed in at 154 thats why i'm puzzled why hes fighting Canelo at a catchweight not only does it take some credit away from a possible victory it also makes him look terrible after the stuff he said about wanting Cotto to be comfortable at the weight and that he didnt count Cotto's loss to Pac cause it was at a catchweight and then he goes and pulls a similar stunt than Pac did with Cotto, What an hypocrite, thats why hes getting criticized and rightfully so, and he has only himself to blame he brought this on himself with his his mouth and his actions.

Obviously Martinez would have been a more daring choice and a more difficult fight, but Ward would have been even more so, and Wlad would have been balls of iron.

Point is, Floyd is not a MW. He does hold a 154 lb belt, so anything up to 154 is possible, and with Pac coming off a brutal KO and presently an unknown factor, Canelo is his toughest choice.

I don't like the catchweight especially as both men won their belts at 154, but 2lbs is not a huge matter.

Therefore, I applaud Floyd for taking the most challenging fight available to him.

And I would have him a slight favourite.

You never know. There are fighters at JMW and lower who have a lower profile than Alvarez, but may have the style to give Mayeather a tougher fight. However, Alvarez is the biggest fight that Mayweather could make. Most fans are very happy with this fight.
