    Furey,
IMO had it of happened earlier it would still of been the same result.
The fighter chose to be surrounded by yes men because the way his ego had gone out of control at that point his own drive to succeed would be compromised because no one would say otherwise.

I'm not so sure, perhaps your right but I think Naz would have given him all sorts of problems had it been the Naz of 2 or so years prior in the ring that night.

You are right though, it was completely his fault that he allowed himself to be surrounded by the sort of people he did - stupid really.

Being honest though, even if he did still stay interested in the sport he wouldn't have been going for much longer - too many hand problems, basically I think he hit far too hard for his own hands.

Perhaps I should have made my post slightly clearer.

Naz m said he was something like 2 stone overweight when he took the fight. He said HBO called him up offering silly money but he had little time to prepare. (8 weeks I think)

Naz at 100% beats any version of MAB or EM

    He was that good

Left Brendan Ingle and spent the build up to the Barrera fight making sure his hair looked good, yes he's a liar, but its true he was an unmotivated, lazy, egomaniacle cocky ******* when it came to the Barrera fight

    Bingo

But I will say something that might be controversial here, prime Naseem could definately have beaten prime MAB

What defines Naz is him crippling a man and still acting like a twat after it.

Most of Hamed preparation in the build up to the Barrera fight was him watching the Junior Jones fights and saying "That's what I'm gonna do"

Nonsense. MAB didn't beat Naz because he was unmotivated, he beat him because he was a better skilled, more rounded fighter. Even a 100% fit, motivated Naz would have struggled with a world-class box-puncher like Marco.

Same with Morales, IMO. Being unconventional is great while you're facing guys without the skills or style to really punish you for it. You look smart and flashy, but when you step up you need the fundamentals to deal with a guy who can offset your rhythm and take advantage of your low hands.

yup, I had a mate who was a naz fan, told me a story about how he met a businessman one night, in the restaurant he worked in & the guy said he was a pal of naz. The guy went back & told naz that my mate was a big fan. Naz phoned my mate at his work, had a chinwag with him & sent him a free naz video & T-shirt!

I asked my mate what naz had talked to him about, but he said he could hardly remember cos he was so shellshocked at getting a phonecall from the prince out of the blue!

What a classy thing to do for one of your fans:good

Naz v Marquez back then would have been like PAC v Marquez I. Naz wouldn't let JMM get out that first round though.

Even if JMM did survive he'd probably drop a wide decision. JMM has become a great fighter through experience, but he'd have had no business being in with Naz who was prime, and had a huge speed and power advantage.

Freddie Norwood beats him, but Naz in the prime form of his career KOing fellow beltholders obviously loses

I just remembered JMM KO'd Manny Pacquiao in 2012, how could anyone possibly think the undefeated lineal featherweight champ could have beaten him 1999!

I take my original post back now.
