    :rofl:lol:

Where di this new view come from. Every thread that mentions Floyd now "Floyd couldnt beat such and such because he barely beat a a past it Oscar de La Hoya"

So lets see, Floyd who had a total of 3 fights at 147, went up to 154lbs and fought Oscar de La hoya who crushed Ricardo Mayorga like no other fighter in Mayorga's career has crushed him. They bring up his 2 losses to Hopkins and Sturm when those occurred at middleweight and arguably Oscar's best weight where he looked his best was 154lbs. Arguably I said.

Now lets move on to the fight. The consensus before and after that Floyd won a comfortably 8-4 decision over Oscar. Some say 9-3, even fewer say 7-5, but 8-4 is probably the most fair decision. The SD was a joke. Max Kellerman after saying "That judge should never work another fight again."

    Lets look at Compubox

    http://boxrec.com/media/index.php/Oscar_De_La_Hoya_vs._Floyd_Mayweather_Jr.

Floyd outlanded Oscar nearly 2-1 in total punches. Outlanded him by power punches by 60, and even outlanded him in jabs.

    Ok "Compubox dont mean ****"

Well lets look at the fight shall we. Particularly the last 4 rounds

    [yt]fAso7Q9xsTg[/yt]

    [yt]5A3HMnRMlys[/yt]

Mayweather ****ing bosses the last 4 rounds. Oscar has no answer. His jab is rendered ineffective.

And for all you morons that say "Oscar stopped throwing his jabs"

Oscar threw more jabs in the last 4 rounds than the first 4 rounds. Floyd took it away like he always does, because he's the ****ing best, get it?

    Aight then. Blat!

I thought you knew that version of Oscar was past his prime and was a part time fighter. Everyone knew he would gas out after round 9.

Oscar's best work in that fight wasn't when he slowed down, it was in the early rounds.

Exactly. Floyd is 3 years older than Oscar was, utilizes a style that doesnt age well, usually only fights once a year and is smaller than most of his opposition, yet when this fight ended i remember how much of a big deal it was that Oscar was 3 years older than Floyd at the time

Notice they dont mention Canelos, Guerreros, Cotto and Ortiz age compared o Floyd

Oscar made the fight by chasing and putting
the pressure. A declining Oscar about to retire
lost on a split decision against your idol Floyd
then a coward Floyd backed out from a rematch.
The commentator on this fight wondered why
DLH stopped jabbing because he was winning
easy while throwing his jab. If you go by compubox
then Castillo defeated Floyd clearly in the first fight.

Precisely the type of ****** i was referring to in the topic.

SD is laughable. Oscar didnt stop throwing his jab. And Floud won comfortably never getting out of second gear

Deal with it ***. 44-0! Ya DiiiG!

Floyd waited for him to slow down. Every time i watch that fight i just see Floyd waiting and figuring him out. Some rounds into the fight, Oscar slowed down and Floyd adapted. Soon enough Oscar could not his jab at all.

Oscar was a part time fighter? Well so is Floyd now but no one seems to be talking about that. :think
Since his retirement he has had 5 fights and now is going ahead with his sixth. Thats 6 fights in 3 years. That doesn´t sound so bad, right?

    21 month layoff.
    6 month layoff.
    17 month layoff.
    6 month layoff.
    12 month layoff.
    4 month layoff.
Slowly he is becoming more and more active but there has been a lot of inactivity.

Clear win for Floyd but it's one the performances he looked the most limited in, in terms of options. Constantly got backed up and had to pick his shots more carefully, so his output seemed more limited. The last 4 rounds were all his, but that doesn't speak to the competitiveness of the fight.

Oscar style isn't bad for fighting Floyd. This fight wasn't CLOSE since Oscar failed to win any rounds in the later half. Floyd sweeped em all
