i specifically asked for your scorecard before the stoppage. if u aint gonna contribute to the topic then dont reply at all. unless u aint got nothing better to do with ur sad miserable life.
Didnt score the fight , But i felt Ortiz had a slight lead over lopez . Both fighters were stubborn as hell in that fight . Nobody wanted to back down .
88-83 Lopez. 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, 9 for Lopez; 4 & 6 for Ortiz. People at some point began perpetuating a myth that Josesito got lucky and the jaw thing was a fluke. I've even seen claims that he was getting dominated/his 'ears boxed off', which has to be from people who didn't actually watch the whole thing and were going off highlights and Boxrec. As it happens, Ortiz was up on all three judges' cards but it was going to be a robbery. Kermit Bayless' 86-85 is acceptable, maybe even Marty Denkin's 87-84 - but Pat Russell's 88-83 simply isn't realistic. There is a case to make for having Oritz ahead if you're strictly a numbers *****: Final stats: Jabs Ortiz 48 of 190, 25% Lopez 12 106, 11% Power Ortiz 99 of 221, 45% Lopez 110 302, 36% Total Ortiz 147 of 411, 36% Lopez 122 405, 30% ...but on quality of shots, look @ WTF Josesito's did! A lot of people on the night had Lopez up but they've fallen conspicuously silent in the months since. The legend of his "come from behind" victory has grown probably due to mass laziness and people just going off the official cards. Like I said, there's a case for Ortiz numerically but Josesito landed more power punches and got in the cleaner harder shots and did the more effective work for a majority of it. He probably didn't get the benefit of the doubt being the underdog, and with Ortiz having that offensive style that people often give too much credit because it appears he is having success by sheer aggression. (as seen in Star Power, where some actually gave him a round or rounds, plural, against Mayweather atsch)
I think it was one of those fights where the score was very debatable. do you go with the high volume from ortiz or for the clean damaging punches from lopez? I might have to re-watch this match.
