Lara needs greater strength and conditioning?

Guy looked weak and smooth last night. A guy with that natural muscle tone should be ripped and strong.

when a human Pinata like Angulo, who is basicly a huge head wading in to throw arm punches, Lara should have been able to pivot, sidestep and blast him into oblivion within 5 rds, not go life and death with a tough guy

I feel he relies on skill and does little strength and conditioning, a kind of Benitez type who loathes to train BUT CAN BOX.

It ends when he faces an top elite.

He is the top elite at 154.

Dude dominated Angulo bar knockdowns, then broke El Perro's face, if that's not enough I'm afraid you're asking something from Lara that is not in him, a top10 P4P level of skills. Elite he still is.

His strength and conditioning was great. He took a lot of heavy body shots from a big puncher and was under a lot of presure.

He showed that he was well disciplined and conditioned by getting up and winning rounds after being knocked down.

Sergio ****s him up at 160, and if he fought Canelo my money would be on Canelo, I think even Cotto has a shot vs the Lara I saw last night. I would even put money Golovkin at 160 blasts him.

    Yep.

He was KD'd legitimately, but got up and won rounds. He was ahead on my cards by the narrowest of margins at the time of the stoppage.

Lara got his ass beat last night and would have been stopped if Angulo hadn't suffered an injury. He shouldn't have been winning rounds except that he's apparently SHO's golden boy, for the time being. He wasn't winning. He was getting his ribs caved in and running for his life in the majority of the rounds.

    What fight were you watching?

Lara would be the absolute worst matchup for Cotto. He would beat the shot out of him.

Canelo would be favored against him, but if the odds are good enough I would take Lara.

Golovkin always has a shot, but I'm going with Lara in that one.

    Surely you kid.

All these people running around saying he would have definitely been stopped are just delusional. Could he have been? Yes. But after that second KD, Lara started really hurting Angulo with some sharp punches. I think we would have been treated to more of the same for Rounds 11 and 12.

No, I don't kid. Lara was ****ed up and barely on his feet. He landed some shots here and there but nobody with eyes would say that his occasional sharpshooting trumps the crushing bodywork that Angulo put in. Angulo was aggressive, coming forward and beating Lara up. Badly. He scored two KDs.

I really don't get the slick and black brigade. What do you get out of trying to build a case that your boy was winning the fight when everybody knows that YOU know he wasn't? You don't get paid for it. I don't do it. When my fighters get their ass kicked I have no problem acknowledging it, it's just part of the game. Lara took a brutal beating and he couldn't have taken much more. His legs were about gone, there wasn't much left on his punches, he wasn't moving anymore, he was running to save his life. He fought the first 60 seconds of every round and then went on the run, because that's all the energy he could get from the break between rounds.

You guys complain about *******s... at least *******s had a case. Pac really WAS taking over the world in spectacular fashion. You guys act like Broner and Lara are already ATG fighters who can do no wrong, and if we see them getting their ass kicked, well, it's just because we don't know what we're looking at.

Lara got ****ed up last night and caught a lucky break. It's that simple. Breathe a sigh of relief and go on about your business, don't try to act like it was all some master plan by Lara.

I have noticed that Lara does tend to look weak in the championship rounds. But then again, how many fighters look strong in those rounds. Lara's a hell of a fighter and I would love to see him in there with trout, Canelo, or Floyd.

Getting walked down, cornered, beat up and knocked down more then once against a 2013 Angulo.... I have to say, Lara is not elite, and not even close to as good as his fans think he is.

Hes still a solid fighter though, and showed a lot of poise and resolve with still getting the W. But really, if he was as good as many think he is, last night should have been a showcase fight for him, in a breakout performance against a well known, but ready for the taking fighter in Angulo. Instead it turned into a life and death struggle in which he was getting knocked down and with the fight truly in jeopardy of him losing.

Lara is not the goods. That's not to say hes not a solid fighter though, because he is. But hes not elite and not close either.

And it wasn't his strength and condition that's the problem. Its his skills that are lacking.

There should have never even been a knockdown, let alone a second one.

What would have happened is pointless talk, what did happened is proof enough that Lara lacks the skills his fans thinks he has.

    Just imo.

Still makes for some fun fights in the future though, and if Im wrong on him Ill make sure to own up to it, but I don't see it.

154lbs is a weak division though, so he could still make a mark on it, who knows. But I doubt it.
