Norton is very under rated here! I believe Norton makes a competitive fight of this. Is he historically as good as Louis...heck NO!, but everytime hypotheticals come up we sway to extremes. Outside of Foreman and shavers no one made quick work of Norton, and excuse the blasphame but I don't have Louis in their power category. so i have no problem seeing ken hold his own early on. I personally see a close decision in favor of Louis, but giving Norton no chance to even be competitive, when Louis had competitive fights with less talented opponents than Norton would present, makes no sense to me.

Ken Norton gave the best boxers he faced all kinds of hell - about the same as the best sluggers he faced gave him :think

Since Louis was a boxer/slugger it would be a hell of a match.

With Kenny winning right up until he got caught :(

We have seen this fight - the part of Joe Louis was played by Gerry Cooney and the part of Ken Norton was played by a shot Ken Norton....

So if we believe that what Cooney did to a shot Norton Louis could do to a prime Ken Norton - then we have this outcome.

On second thought that may not be stretching it too far after all...
    :think

I was thinking about this today oddly.

I would take Louis by decision.

Most likely Louis by KO. BUT, Ken had a mean overhand right, so he'd have some chance to potentially make a fight of it and momentarily stagger or drop Joe. However, I see Louis dealing with what he had, sharpshooting Ken with rapier like jabs, and following with his devastating right, ripping uppercuts, and wicked combinations, which would have been too much for Norton.

I'm not a Ken Norton fan.I think he froze when he fought a 'puncher'.He arguably won all three fights with Ali-and I think he clearly froze when he was destroyed by Earnie Schavers and George Foeman(and later by Gerry Cooney).Louis by kayo(I don't care what happened in the first Billy Conn fight).

Ken would give Joe some problems, but Joe would flatten him around the 11th round.

Bad style match for Ken. Louis takes him out early.

Weight pull would be on Norton side. Louis never fought a stud like Norton except maybe Baer who was a club fighter who froze against Louis much like Norton tended to do against big punchers. The Abe Simon ll version at 207 bombards Norton and we get a shavers type outcome.

Louis by ko.He would back Norton up ,and Kenny was ineffective going backwards.
Seeing the old comments here I;m reminded that good posters like Cross trainer and Chris Pontius no longer post here which is a shame.

I could see Louis clipping Kenny. With Futch and his corner and proper respect for the Brown Bomber, he could be plenty of trouble with that jab, awkward style, and the devastating overhand right.

Norton staggers Louis in the opening seconds, only for Joe to blast straight back, and Norton is brutally kod.

Louis by TKO in the early rounds, he will catch Norton eventually.

Kenny was a club level guy in reality, he had a big break against a flawed fighter because he had a very intelligent corner. Louis was a real pro and wouldn’t need to train at all for this fight he could come in a sloppy 230lbs. 1st or 2nd round KO.
