It still depresses me, just how many people cannot seem to grasp that boxing is totally different from boxing-for-MMA. It's bizarre, because it's so simple and obvious. Good on you anyway.
I like Machida also. He has (or had) one of the greatest MMA defenses anyone has every seen in the UFC. I thought his Shotokan was pretty cool. Does anyone know what happened to him? Is he retired or is he still fighting?
I heard he was supposed to fight someone in August. They offered him a last minute fight with Jones but he turned it down citing the need for time to train (smart if you ask me) and has been sort of punished since then. But he keeps winning so they have to give him another shot sooner or later. Anyway I love Machida's stick and move tactics. It's great!
So has MMA reached its pinnacle when it comes to the development of their version of striking? Is this as good as it gets when you mix in boxing with grappling? As a MMA fan, I do hope that the fighters have a better attitude at progressing rather then stagnating. True, they will never have the skill-set of pro boxers but they can definitely improve. So many paranoid mma fans on here defending mediocrity. Windmill punches and chins in the air are still the norm.
