Always makes me laugh when people stick up for Cleverley, he looks good and will difficult to beat due to his high work rate and solid chin, but he has fought rubbish opponents, he said himself when he became WORLD CHAMPION, that it's not fair for him to fight super fights as he's still only learning, don't be world champion then. He has no interest in fighting big fighters, if this is nothing but a unification fight, why try postpone the brahmer fight? That could have put that one to bed after he pulled out last time, then you could say that Cleverley is a proper world champion, but you can see he has no motivation to fight the best and test himself, that's why nobody cares about him

Can't get behind cleverly, the few fights of his that I've seen he's been ****!

 

Don't agree with this, his fight with Danny Mac was exciting (both unbeaten at the time), same with Murat (about to fight B-Hop) and there were others for sure, it's just his progress after Bellew has stopped dead, and a series of poor, unexciting opposition has taken all the fun out of supporting him.

He's been a Champ for a while now and needs to be seen fighting at least top five ranked fighters, but perferably other World Champs.

If he continues to let FW match him with bums like Shawn Hawk and Tommy Karpency then people will continue to not give a frozen sausage.

 

Only decent fight he has been in, I don't think he won - Bellew.

Cleverly is a disgrace. Typical FW fighter being protected. Shumenov, Hopkins, Pascal, even get some good 168 pounders to step up etc The blokes not interested and he has become irrelevant.

Talented, but who cares anymore.

 

Lmfao Naths still only a baby in boxing terms and will come good and start stepping up his level of opponent only after he's financially secure ( at the end of the day I don't think he is hanging around getting punched on the nut just to say " I hold a crappy paper WBO world title " ) I can understand the frustration of wanting to see him step up and him not doing so as yet but I see him cashing in fighting below par fighters for another couple of years then he will step it up around the age of 28 just to test himself against the worlds best . Boxing is a fantastic sport but its all about money first, anyone not agreeing with that are romantics .

The stick he gets is due to his 'title' reign.

To call him a World Champion is an insult to world champions of the past.

He is a decent fighter and we will see how good he can be when he steps up.

But in my honest opinion the stick he is getting is fully justified due to the soft opponents.

 

Cleverley ships at least 1 clean 1 in every fight he has.

Against Stevenson thats curtains.

This is where his level of opposition will cost him.

He has the talent to compete at world level but he is used to taking to many risks because of the level he has faced.

 

Very true, Kell Brook will have the same problem imo. It really is counter productive to match a fighter soft just to maintain an undefeated record. The fact Nathan has held a world title for 2 years yet is still relatively untested (bellew murat exceptions) is mind blowing.

They should make the the Braehmer fight now, will be a good test against a decent puncher with Braehmer being a little to shopworn to pull the trigger.

 

Braehmer v Clev should definitely happen in the next 2 fights. It's like the title fight that should have already happened. Chance for JB's title back and a chance for validation for Clev.
