    Obviously Ward would be a great win. But even in the UK, you have to doubt that Froch has much of a chance.

    Who else?

    Golovkin, its the kind of win that will look better and better as time go's on.

    No, Ward and only Ward. I hate the fact that the Hearns try and play it down by claiming Ward needs Froch more than Froch needing Ward. Ward at the moment has **** all to prove in the division.

    If not, it may be nice to see Carl win another big fight / title in a new weight class but again, this is very unlikely as Froch feels he makes the weight for Super-Middleweight well.

    He'd have to fight himself in order to improve his legacy. The only man that can beat Carl Froch is Carl Froch.

    Ward has every ability to outbox and run rings around Froch again.
    Froch needs Ward more than Ward needs Froch, I agree...but the money is in the Froch fight for Ward, so it'll most likely happen next summer.
    I reckon in Vegas rather than UK.

    I think froch is great. But I would deffo fight ward last. He has momentum at the moment like never before. A Kessler 3rd fight would be tame (in terms of choice) but a good choice. The only other option is too move up to 175 and fight a couple carefully selected opponents but I honestly feel this is a risk not because the guys at 175 are better but just because froch is a 168 fighter and I don't think he would be big enough at 175!

    His legacy is already secure.Hes one of the best we've had,but I think hell always be rated below Joe by the majority.Ward,I feel,would beat him again,wherever it happened.But he might have beat the latter also,its all conjecture.Kessler could be talked into another fight possibly,but his heart might not be in it and it would mean nothing now.Carls the better man.At the risk of repeating myself,I think he should fight Stevenson.A lot of people here think he would win.Im not so sure,but if he did I reckon he'd be seen as Joes equal.Cant see that one happening,though.

    I'd like to see him fight Martinez at a catch weight. I reckon Froch could actually go down a few pounds quite comfortably.

    Im not so sure,Lee.He looks big to me.Could be wrong but are people thinking this because he never seems to take a break from training,so doesn't balloon in weight like a lot do?Years ago,they used to jump up from middle to light heavy,some with fair success at world level.I think he could go up if he wanted,and do well.

    George Groves and James De Gale purely because they have potential to become stars.

    Id forget ward. Boring fight and wldnt do as much ppv as a good domestic dust up. No shame losin to him either, and froch has a secured legacy now. Gotta earn as much as he can. In this order.....1) degale. Wld be a decent fight verbally in the pressers and degale wld prob do better than most think. Mid stoppage for carl. 2) kessler III. Time for mikkel to recover and everyone wld wanna see it. 3) groves. Rivalry wlda gone to a new level by mid 2014 so itd be a good time to see it. 4) finish career with golovkin. By this stage, ggg will be a household name, possibly seeking out 168 fighters to get big fights anyway.

    The Ward fight is the one but like most, I dont see Carl beating him regardless of where it is. But a win over Ward would do wonders for his legacy.

    Outside of that, hmmm, it's difficult really. Golovkin would be a cracking fight but Froch may lose credit for it if its at SMW and I cant see Froch trimming down. Similar with Chavez Jr though he is looking more like a SMW than GGG.

    Looking up, there's not many legacy defining fights out there - Hopkins is in the who needs him club (you're either beating up or getting beat up by an old man), Dawson's stock has plummeted, Stevenson doesnt seem like a long serving champ to me.

    So I think you're then left with SMW opponents:

    Ward - obviously first choice
    Kessler - everyone loves a trilogy, a third fight would be welcomed but I'm not sure it would improve Carl's legacy. It wont do it any harm though;
    Stieglitz - not a great opponent, but unifying another title wouldnt do him any harm;
    Groves/DeGale/Oosthuzen - too green;
    Dirrell - a bit of a forgotten man, but I had that fight very, very close. Not a great choice of opponent but if he fights him again and puts more distance between them it would avoid any questions ever arising.

    Outside of those above (or Joe C coming out of retirement...) I dont think any other fights make sense and of the above, I only really see GGG or Ward improving his legacy and Ward being the only certainty in that regard (should he win...which I doubt he would).

    No matter what he does, he will never get the respect that Joe C does.

    For me if he fights Ward and wins then his legacy is right up there with the best

    Basically that's my thinking yeah, haha. As he walks around not much above his SMW limit when not in training I just assumed he could manage 164 / 165 lbs. As no one else has suggested Martinez I'm guessing I'm totally wrong!

    Id like him to fight Chavez JR nobody at the weight other than ward.
