Round 4, Payano on the offensive throughout, on the rebound from the knockdown at end of Round 3. He circles around Maraon, consistently landing crisp shots. Maraon stands in center of ring as Payano circles around, much less active, lots of wild looping shots that mostly miss, yet he occasionally lands effective punches. Payano round, 3-1, 38-37 points.

 

48-46 Payano

 

Round 5, fighters moving in tandem, otherwise same as Round 4, Payano MUCH more active, landing crisp shots, single and in 2-3 punch combos, very sharp technically. Maraon much less active, occasional wild looping shots that miss, didn't really land anything this round. Maraon bullrushed Payano into the ropes with about 1 minute left in round, no warning. Payano round, 4-1, 48-46 points.

 

Payano still looks like he's going to take this.

 

58-55 Payano

 

Round 6, first time fighters standing closer together, as Maraon more aggressive about closing distance, still his punches wild and looping, only very occasionally landing. Payano less active this round, still greatly outlanding Maraon with crisp shots, nice 3-punch combo at end of round. Payano round, 5-1, 58-55 points.

Round 7, early on in middle of ring Payano catches Maraon with big left, stunning Maraon who stands still in middle of ring as Payano unloads left after right after left, two big lefts, second one on the right temple, puts Maraon down hard on his side. Referee counts to 8, Maraon still not moving, referee waves off rest of count. Maraon lays still for probably 3 minutes as ringside physicians tend to him. He was initially unconscious, but came around, and physicians eased him to his stool. Payano W KO7 at 0:39 of the round.
