Name me one opponent that Tyson beat that was better than Frazier? Tyson was very good but he fought in a weak era.

    See Foreman v Bert Cooper.

Tyson would last longer but get beaten down in around 10 rounds, it would be very painfull for Tyson as George would scare the **** out of him I think.

Imagine Tysons bobbing and weaving against Foremans huge uppercuts? ouch!!!
    Iamagine George leaning on him?
Imagine George pushing him backwards like a rag doll.

This is THE worst style Mike Tyson could have ever faced besides say..Vitali Klitchko (the height would be too much for Tyson)

I love watching Tyson fight but this is the wrong fight for him.

Didn't I hear Bert Sugar tell a story on ESPN one time about how prime Tyson didn't want any of comebacking Foreman?

Foreman would have KTFO Tyson when he came back at 40. Bad style for Tyson. If fact, when George did come back he literally begged to fight Tyson, whose handlers knew better.

the "myth" of george foreman makes me laugh. he would get raped by tyson....
he has admitted in an interveiw somewhere tyson would have beaten him. he was just making noise to earn big money.. foreman was seen as pretty much a circus act before tyson went to prison.. holyfield got alot of flack for fighting him!!

    Foreman can't fight?

    ...

..well...I know 75 people who would disagree with that statement, 76 if you include Shannon Briggs who he arguably beat

It does really suprise me this thread/poll result so far. Foreman wasn't that good a boxer and not the most intelligent fighter - Tyson in his prime was - very fast, elusive and KO punch in both hands. I don't see this as a hard fight either cos they'd not have to go looking for each other...great fight whilst it last but fairly short IMO with Tyson KO'ing big George. Forget Foreman Frazier - Tyson is a different league to Frazier.

The biggest myth is that Tyson in his prime never got hit; he got hit ALOT. And even by fighters of less calibre than Big George.

Tyson -- Faster hand speed, faster foot speed, better head movement and defense.

George was too stiff and really didn't learn to box until after he turned 40.

its not that he never got hit, its he never got hit clean, only a couple of times he ever got hit clean. you can see in the video.
    ***********.youtube.com/watch?v=uYZzMPsm6c4
but he had a vey sturdy chin that wasnt the type to crack with one shot. you really had to beat the **** out of him to get him down.
douglas beat him with quick hands foot work and lots of lateral movement, and a great jab.
    foreman fought nothing like that.

lol at the 4 people who thinks it goes the distance.
imo foreman young or old would destroy tyson in 2-3 rounds

speed tyson 9 foreman 6 (young) 4 (old)
tyson was obviously much faster than old george and still faster thant young george (even though foreman wasnt that slow when he was young)

    movement tyson 9 foreman 7
again tyson his speed and movement are the main reasons he so destructive foreman was excellent at cutting the ring off though

defense tyson 9 foreman 3 (young) 7 (old)
tysons defense was very very good due to his speed an compactness young foreman had NO DEFENSE AT ALL lol even in the absolute war with lyle he didnt bother to defend himself. old foreman actually had a pretty effective defense

physical strength tyson 7 foreman 10
i only marked tyson down to 7 here because of foremans superhuman strength tyson was strong but foreman was freak of nature! watch holyfield get shoved around around in the foreman fight and watch foreman throw bigger guys than tyson around like dogs chew toys! then watch holyfield shove mike around like a little boy in both fights

punching power tyson 7 foreman 10
again tyson had good power but not in the league of foreman shavers lyle williams etc this is backed up buy guys who fought both (holyfield fought foreman and tyson holmes fought shavers and tyson) both of them said tysons power was nowhere near foreman/shavers it was speed that caught holmes out and we know what holyfield did to tyson whod lost some of his speed and movement. tyson got most of his kos with great speed and combos that the guy never saw foreman would **** you up and do long term damage in the process.

    toughness/chin tyson 6 foreman 10
tyson did take a beating but foreman was a monster who was only ever really hurt by 1 guy (a HUGE punching slugger called ron lyle). mike was tough but beatable foreman was almost impossible to ko

stamina tyson 4 foreman 5 (young) 10 (old)
tyson had a lung problem that made it difficult to go the distance and his ferocity dropped off markedly later in fights. young foreman was fit but wasted alot of nervous energy and against ali he fought a terrible fight and punched himself out in 6 rounds. old foreman was completely different totally calm and patient he could go late into fights np whatsoever.

mental toughness tyson 1 foreman 5 (young) 10 (old)
tyson was a basket case mentally a real bully who fell apart when somebody stood up to him. young foreman was also a bully to a lesser extent both were incredibly intimidating but foreman didnt care weather you stood up to him or not.
old foreman was like a god damn terminator! he showed no emotion whatsoever was totally calm in the ring nothing bothered him at all he just kept coming for you no matter what.

    size/reach tyson 4 foreman 8
another obvious 1 tyson was 1 of the smaller heavyweights while foreman would still be big today

    opponents tyson 6 foreman 10
this is a difficult 1 because theres little you can do about the quality of your oponents.
almost all of mikes fights were journey men (I hate the term bum) or average - decent
the only times he faced genuine quality he lost badly.
alot of foremans opponents were also average BUT he did fight all time greats and all time very good fighters too and did very well when he did (decimated frazier and norton had a great fight with prime holyfield and a bad loss to ali also had the best war iv ever seen with lyle etc) overall foremans opponents were much higher quality.

    longevity tyson 2 foreman 10
this is an obvious 1 really tyson had an extremely short prime while foreman was still effective nearly 30 years after turning pro!

    destructiveness tyson 9 foreman 10
these imo are the 2 most destructive boxers in history for very different reasons
tysons combination of speed accuracy and aggression havnt been seen before or since.
foremans combination of physical strength power and persistence are just plain scary he just beat the **** out of almost everybody he fought including the guys who won the fights!.
iv given george the extra point here purely due to his longevity prime for prime i cant split them the were both viscious but george was still pummeling people well into his late 40s!

    styles
this is the biggest single factor in the fight imo
tysons swarming aggressive style is total suicide against foreman tyson would elude plenty of shots but foreman would land and when he did it would HURT. tyson knew it and cus knew it. foreman was extremely dangerous even for prime tyson

Wow, this is a very good hypothetical matchup. I honestly have no idea who'd win this, I could see either guy stopping the other one. Both of these guys were wrecking machines in their primes, Foreman had the better scalps on his resume but he was fortunate enough to take on some great fighters in the 70's.

I'd call it 50/50 with maybe a slight advantage to Big George due to his reach advantage. BUt I could see Tyson take a shot or 2 to the chin just to be able to get inside and nail him with one of those destructive hooks. Tyson had an iron chin for most of his career and he could very well been able to withstand some of Georges punishment and be able to land some devastating stuff on the inside.

Truly 50/50 and one of my favorite hypothetical HW matchups to think about.
