After reading that, I thought "Whatever happened to James Page?" and a few more seconds later I thought "Holy crap, that's what happened to James Page!"

Speaking of Page-he was arrested again on the same old robbing banks issues.Again.

Apparently he is the ''Buttoned-shirt bandit'' as he was dubbed due to obvious reasons and judging by a pic the FBI relesed it is indeed James Page.Acording t othem he robbed 8 banks from march to now.
I guess he turned to his old ways after his boxing comeback was ended prematurely. He's already got 2 strikes agaisnt him so he's looking at a lot of time.

Most of these modern day talking heads suck anyway to me...give me Howard Cosell, Tim Ryan, Don Dunphy (of course), Alex Wallau....you can keep the rest.

He was a good, no frills, serious fight caller, IMO.

Which I think has a lot to do with Foreman's true nature and personality. I've heard rumors from several people who claim that George Foreman is NOT the nice, jolly guy that he appears to be in his commercials, interviews, and cameos.
And it doesn't surprise me: a so-called country boy preacher who likes the almighty dollar as much as Foreman does can't be all that pure! :hey

This is something I noticed when I re-watched this fight a few weeks ago. Lampley said if Naz loses, then it was written so by Allah. This is because before the fight started Naz chanted and praised Allah and Islam. Naz made the fight about his religion, and it was a shock to most people. By his pre-fight chanting of Allah, a lot of people saw that as the fight being about Allah and Islam. Then when Naz lost, it carried a lot of significance to many people. This was also before 9/11, I doubt Lampley would say what he said after 9/11. But before 9/11 with that statement he was basically holding Naz accountable for what he said before the fight. If you're going to chant and praise your religion and your lord before a fight, and then you lose the fight, well then did his lord not answer his prayers?

Naz was undefeated in all his other fights, and in none of them did he chant about Allah and Islam before the fight. But the one fight he chanted praising Allah, he lost. If you believe in divine intervention, then that is very telling and is something that I thought about. I didn't mention it at first, but now that you highlight this statement by Lampley and the response by Foreman, I think it is worth talking about.

It would be interesting if someone would ask Naz about this in an interview, if he regretted chanting for Allah before the Barrera fight. You can look at it in a lot of ways, and it doesn't have to turn into a religious war. Maybe Allah was humbling Naz by making him suffer defeat. Maybe Allah didn't like how Naz made the fight about him. Because then when he lost, it made Allah look bad. That was a fascinating fight for many reasons.

I liked Foreman. He gets a bad rap IMO (in regards to his broadcasting skill). He tried to talk up fights that Merchant would talk **** on. If you don't believe that it is a good match-up... than why are you commentating on it? Two guys are gonna try to beat the shlt out of each other... somebody could get hurt or even killed... George understood this, Merchant, Lampley, Lederman, and others who did not box as a profession... did not understand this as well.

I miss Foreman commentating actually. He was not boring like most of the others.
