CATCHweather says "catch weights are meaningless". He doesn't want to drain fighters. He wants his opponents to be at their best...
I thought haters said Floyd would NEVER fight Canelo? Floyd was ducking him? Guess what Canelo is with GBP not Arum. Arum fighters duck Floyd cuz Bob knows better.
I think you're confusing prime Pacquiao with Canelo. No one was really talking about Canelo fighting Mayweather until Canelo beat Trout. Which "Arum" fighters duck Floyd? Arum obviously wanted Pacquiao and Mayweather to fight, because at the time, it would have been a huge fight. that's what promoters do : make fights happen. I don't remember anyone ever saying Floyd was ducking Canelo. All we heard was that Floyd made a big thing about blood testing for a Pacquiao fight, suggesting Pacquiao might be taking banned substances. FMJ said about how Pacquiao went from ordinary to extraordinary. We should give credit to FMJ for "giving the fans what they want" and signing to fight Canelo. But, at the same time, realize that he was the one who needed a catch weight. There's something disingenuous about saying he wouldn't want to drain Cotto, but now is turning around and making Canelo drain himself down from the standard 154 limit. The limit where he won his titles, the same limit that FMJ himself holds a title and fought at recently.
now the ***** have to accept pac's destruction of Cotto as a great win. for a long time they tried to discredit the win because it was at a catchweight. can't do that anymore *****s.
I aint defending whatever comes out of Floyd's mouth, cuz he's proven to be indefensible, but... I never believed he had intentions of fighting Canelo at 154. I never believed he had intentions to stay on top of the LightMid division too. He went up to as a calculated cherry-pick of past-prime, blimped up Welterweight Miguel Cotto. Conspiracy theorists saying he ducked Cotto in the Welterweights can have some validity. I still say Floyd would have still beat him @ 147, but it was would have been a dangerous fight and Cotto was on top. But with a couple losses, older and slower, the Light Mid fight was a good calculated risk. But fight a true LightMid champion @ 154? NO. I'm for catch-weighting to justify a size disparity. Both parties agree to it - no one can *****, except for the *****-ass fans. Fortunately, they don't do the fighting, just the bitching. But for a specific weightclass title? NO! The fight needs to fairly represent the weightclass. Shame on the organizations who are bought out.
about a year ago, i believe Canelo was calling out Floyd for a 147 fight... Now, i don't think 147 is realistically feasible for Canelo, the boy is still growing and has thickened out....
I'm not putting any words in Floyd's mouth. I am quoting him. Many questioned FMJ about Pacquiao's possible banned substances since he made a big deal about blood testing. When asked, he talked about how it's uncommon for someone to go from ordinary to extraordinary, like Pacquiao did. He didn't flat out say he thought Pacquiao was on roids, but definitely suggested as much by his narrative and his statements. I'm just quoting him and reminding you of what Floyd actually said and did. Pacquiao actually considered suing Mayweather for defamation.
Because Canelo is a belt holder at 154. FMJ is a belt holder at 147 and 154. Floyd fought Cotto at 154, and made a big deal about the Cotto fight not being at a catch weight so Cotto wouldn't be drained and so he would be at his best.
