Rewatched Rees V Broner

Unpredictable, please. Lets get down to reality. Paulie Malinaghi is not at the level of Broner. Did he win even 1 round against Khan or Hatton? It might go 12 but it will be a shoutout for Broner.

 

the first 2 rounds was actually quite telling on how Broner matches up against good, strong pressure fighters. He was open to the body and he was stationary. Rees clocked him a few times and he got away with it because Rees isn't that strong.

It looks like Broner need to set his punches. He's not a completely fluid puncher that can punch at will. He needs some distance and need to set his feet. He talented, but has a lot of weaknesses.

 

Just my op that hes a lil too small to fight at 154, maybe he'l prove me wrong. I'v no doubt he could win fights there im just thinking about the top top guys..(154 isnt the best at the moment i guess) but i mean the guys you mentioned, angulo, lara, canelo, trout.. there all way too big and strong for him in my opinion.

Broner IS NOT the new Floyd Mayweather as many people (mainly commentators) keep saying. In fact I really cant see many similarities between the two, apart from the fact that Broner uses the Poor mans Philly shell\shoulder roll or whatever you want to call it.

I just re watched the fight too, and agree Broner got hit quite a lot... Even after round 2when he started fighting.

Rees actually did ok considering he looked like a small child in comparison to Broner on fight night.

 

Feet to Feet and inches conversion. 1ft = 12 inches. 5.57ft ~ 5 ft and 7 inches.

Broner is slightly taller than Cotto who is 5'7" and Cotto was champion at 154lbs. The thing is that Broner has a lot of extra muscle, even more so than Mayweather, it's actually surprising he can drain down to 135lbs, wonder why people haven't pointed it out as much as they have for Canelo.

Anyways, even staying at 147lbs would be a step up for him as he would be fighting people of his own size.
