The last one was all heart from Bika. Nice advice from the coach, that round gave him the win, was a gamble cuz Sakio was so tired that he could have been Knocked Down and lose the fight, but was a gamble needed to be made.
Periban was better than I was expecting, but also Bika didn't brought his A game. He had those wide shots, all night, we know that's his style but he had more of that in this fight and those punches were even more wild and slower than I remember. He either used to pace himself better in the past or had better stamina. He should mix up those wide shots with few fast-compact punches or hide them behind a jab, jab that was decent but not used enough. Also noticed that Bika at times plant his feet and didn't moved like he should had... probably trying to get him out. I remember him being a better counter-puncher than he showed against Periban.
Nah Sakio has probably had more title chances than his talent and skills warrant over the years , WHO ducked him ? (certainly no one in the Northern hemisphere because he has fought and usually lost against anyone of note here ) ,No the sport has slipped to such an extent we get served up **** fights like this as genuine world title fights , whether its the WBO , WBA , IBF or the WBC it's all the same bollocks , if anyone here thinks this standard of brawling equates to a world boxing title fight are as deluded as the clowns that think that Johnathan Banks is a world class heavy . Btw Congratulations to Sakio it's the game I'm hating on not the player .
Agree 100% Josey , they should take that fight and use it has a training video , on HOW NOT TOO DO IT. Sakio can be used has an example of how to throw a jab , when your distance is all wrong , so you cannot follw up ,, How to negate your own power by throwing punches with the foot in the air ,, down to bad distancing ,, How to forget about drfence and rely on your chin , and the list goes on . He may be a great guy but he's not a great boxer , match
Happy for Bika.He deserves a nice payday and will get one now as his reign will not be long and will be in great demand as many top ranked fighters see him as very beatable.
yep its a strange old world boxing , sakio has been in the mix but never quite made it over the line . the reason for this is his boxing ability , there is no faulting his power , chin and heart but he has always been very raw . i guess hes in the right place at the right time with ward being out due to injury and stripped of his title . no bloke deserves a bit of luck more then sakio though he has faced everyone and never knocked back a fight . will he be champion long ? i would say that is unlikely as they will be coming from everywhere to fight him now . cant see him beating , ward , froch , kessler , groves , degeale , or steglitzs . i do think there is a strong posibility that one of the poms will face him next , either groves or degale . if they beat him it will set up a massive unification with froch , who will probably take a fight in between .
Am glad bika won the fight but he has no real boxing ability he will get a payday but will lose the title very quick. was like watching b class fighters lots of action tho so cant complain. & again am happy for bika cheers
I think your wrong mate, Bika has a tone of ability, its why he is highly sought after as a sparring partner here in AUS for many boxers preparing for big fights. I knew this guy would be champ one day if given the oppertunity. Here is an interview we did with him in 2004. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=33Q7_Zf-8ac
Err ,, with the exception of Geale and your mate Greeny he is better than everyone else . He's still only heart and chin though .. But by the way good luck to him he will hopefully make a **** load before he retires , and from all accounts deserves it . .. Like Josey said hate the game not the player.
