Stevenson is nothing special whatsoever he just landed a good shot against a brainless Dawson, prior to that he really wasn't very impressive at all. As has been mentioned he lost to a journeyman in Boone who KO'd him and he has a half and half record. Bellew isn't levels if even anything at all below Stevenson, I'd say they're pretty much on a par and if anything Bellew has the better wins. It's a pick'em fight depending on if you think Stevenson will be able to knock Bellew out early on, Stevenson has only gone 12 rounds once in his whole career and is the older man at nearly 36. Bellew can out box him to a decision and probably hurt him too if he just boxes smart and doesn't stand right in front of him.
Result for Tony if he gets his shot, he deserves it and he would actually beat a champion...Clev still yet to do that, infact he's still yet to fight a decent opponent world level that isnt a prospect. but he's still young and in no rush! :tired
If Bellew beats Stevenson which I really hope he does we could well see a situation in which suddenly Cleverly is chasing after Bellew, he's clearly not bothered about chasing the Hopkins, Dawsons, and Pascal's and Shumenov's (we're meant to wait 4 years for them) but he would be all over a unification with Bellew for sure! That would be funny having Bellew as WBC champ fighting in the states only 18 months or less after leaving allegedly having lost to Cleverly.
Exactly right, Just sounds like typical Brit defeatism to me, I mean come on Terry Tibbs, Stevenson "a lot better than Clev"? lol is he ****
every chance of a win here for TB.. Stick to the boxing leave the warrior crap at home and try and out skill Stevenson Box him and be accurate. Hes already been stopped by a journyman and while TB has struggled to make up to his Bomber nick name he probably has enough to hurt Stevenson and stop him setting himself. TB needs to be accurate and have a high work rate...
Post would have made more sense if Cleverly were not fighting Kovalev next and the Bellew Clev fight had in any way been controversial. Immediately after the Cleverly Bellew fight I reckoned that was probably the 2 best light heavys in the world and I still believe it (despite a dodgy performance or 2 from Bellew and clevs shitty fights). The belt holders and top 5 in general at l heavy are all well shy of elite level imo. In a few months Bellew will be linear no 1 belt holder and head band will be a belt holder with a win over the champ and the danger man of the division. May sound pie in the sky but I honestly see it happening. Fingers crossed as I am a big fan of both.
