I am really looking forward to the fight tonight between Frankie Gavin vs Denton Vassell but when I just read about the undercard I was really disappointed!! Except from the main event every other fight is really a one sided beatdown!! Paul Butler vs Najah Ali: Butler with an easy win for me but this is a short notice fight I suppose and there is not much other Super Flyweights about. Stephen Smith vs Eddie Nesbitt: Another easy win, Stephen Smith fighting a guy with a record of 3W 2L isn't going to help Stephen Smith get ready for bigger fights. Liam Smith vs Max Maxwell: Maxwell might be tough but another easy win for Liam Smith. Joe Selkirk vs Keiron Gray: Crap fight for Selkirk he won't learn anything from it, he needs to step up his opposition so we can see what he can really do. Rhys Roberts vs Dai Davies: Don't know much about Rhys Roberts but this looks to be another one sided beatdown Joe Murray vs Dan Naylor: Once again this seems to be a fight where one fighter is just there to ship punishment. For a televised show this has got to be one of the worst undercards I have seen in a long time, I nearly bought tickets for this show on the back of the Frankie Gavin vs Denton Vassell fight but I would have been very annoyed had I paid £50 to watch the rest of the bill knowing the winners before the fights even started. I hope I am wrong and it is an entertaining show but I doubt it!!! Am I being over critical? I'd like to hear others thoughts on the undercard and please if anyone thinks that any of the other fighters can actually get a win I'd like to hear it.
Don''t think Roberts vs Davies or Smith v Maxwell are being televised (both start before 8pm when Boxnation goes live) which is a shame as out of all the undercard fights those to are probably the closest to being competitive fights. Roberts v Davies is a rematch they drew previously so while on paper it may look an easy win for Roberts that one could be slightly more interesting. Oh and i wouldnt mind shows of this quality (ie one main 50/50 plus undercard of prospect v journeyman, like most small hall shows) IF we were getting them pretty much every week.
Totally agree I'm hoping its related to the fact that the boxers mentioned will be ring rusty so they won't be diving straight back into competitive action If they stay active they will be involved in better fights
Roberts/Davies had a fun, entertaining draw on a brook undercard so another one is fair enough. Naylor is a tough kid who should be southern area champ, was a robbery by all accounts Ali is a very good and underated fighter who takes late notice fights cos he is the who needs them club. was a good amateur.
What because the undercard is **** you aint got box nation come on mate its well worth a a 10 spot thats 3 pints of guinness
The Murray fight hasn't been a one sided beat down as such Murray is winning but naylor is firing back and has landed some shots. I'm thankful that they've at least managed to broadcast a live domestic card at last and the main event is the one we all want to see anyway.
One of the worst undercardson these soils for a good main event. As bad as the American & German ones
what are the results from the undercard? Dan Naylor is a decent boxer and much better then his record suggest's hes naturally bigger then joe murray so i couldnt see joe walking through him at all.
that selkirk is a waste of space he pulled out of a fight with spike o'sullivan he likes to fight fellas over 6rnds he knows he will beat why did box nation not show the liam smith maxwell fight
