Golovkin v froch

    Yeah it looks unlikely given the size difference but golovkin fights bigger than he is and clearly punches bigger so who's to say this isn't possible at 168 if ggg clears out any middleweight pretenders

    If they fought in 3 months after a good camp who would win


    The most striking thing about ggg is he is exceptional in so many departments but froch is one tough ******* who has a great chin and been the distance with so many world rated fighters,add in frochs size advantage and a clear win for golovkin as I would expect would put him in the p4p upper echelons for me

    Wouldn't be at 168 if Hearn's interview is correct, would be at 11 stone 9.

    Golovkin's biggest problem will be getting people to get in the ring with him. Money will have to be huge for Chavez Jr and I wouldn't be surprised to see Martinez duck him.

    If ggg beats a couple of solid contenders at 168 then I'm sure Froch would get a lot of credit for taking this fight, right now I'd say it was high risk low reward.

    If froch took this next which is highly unlikely as I'm sure golovkin wants to clear out 160 first,a win for Carl over a fighter in the prime of his life and punching so hard would make him a lock in for the IBHOF I reckon

    Replace GGG with Bute and Froch and done exactly that.

    Cleaned the clock of a fighter who the majority thought was in his prime and was coming over here to batter Froch.

    That's not to say that the result would be the same if Froch fought GGG as it was when Froch faught Bute.

    look how much credit froch got for the bute destruction - bute became an untested hypejob immediately afterwards

    if froch destroyed ggg in his next fight the same thing happens here in my opinion, fighters will always get little props for beating a man coming up in weight


    look at hopkins, most of his big career wins are against smaller guys coming up - pavlik, fishnets, tito, winky et al

    I see the similarities but ggg is so different to bute


    Bute had fought at home through his whole reign and had taken easy defences through his teams choice
    Andrade was cheated against bute appallingly due to home town referee,but the damage had been done bute had been badly hurt and exposed,froch jumped on him to show the world how you beat him


    Not only has golovkin fought everywhere against whoever throughout an outstanding amateur and pro career but he has never been shaken(as far as I know,anybody know different?) or even pushed back for any amount of time


    Bute was a classic counter puncher,golovkin pins you down works you into positions and then pulverises you.he can equally box on the outside


    Maybe I'm wrong but golovkin will be looked at very differently to bute in 20 years time

    Here's a question which in my opinion would be the telling point in this fight rather than disparity in size. Does Froch have ring smarts to beat Golovkin ? I don't think he does. Why is Golovkin's power and highlight reel knockout's such a talking point ? He lands with devestating accuracy. And this is no fluke. His power wouldn't be a talking point if he didn't have unbelieveable judgement of range, distance, subtle feet, a jab that freezes opponents on the spot, because if he didn't have them he would look crude and wide with his punches.. So far there hasn't been a situation that he hasn't been able to deal with or looked remotely troubled.

    Totally agree


    Stevenson kovalev and even matthysse are sledgehammer punchers but don't have the immaculate boxing brain of golovkin,that's his biggest strength


    Like is said above his judgement of distance,hand eye co ordination looks second to none

    I'd expect Froch to take it on points. Froch has the chin to weather GGG's power and I think is technically a good enough boxer to outpoint him.

    Would be a cracking fight though.

    Froch would definitely be in for a fight, but if this is something him and his management are looking at - they should be clever about it.

    If Froch beats him at 168, you just know for a fact that people will try to discredit the win by saying he was "too small" and was brought up in weight etc. Let him fight a decent operator first at 168, then perhaps take the fight.

    In my opinion, GGG looks like a guy who could hold the extra weight well.
