Boxrec's listing for Martinez's reach is wrong I believe. I've always seen 75+ reported everywhere else; the guy has some Dhalsim arms for his height.

Makes me laugh all this like sergio is the middleweight Pauline malinaggi or somethin... Martinez can hurt anyone in te middleweight division with his power
Even though Chavez isn't only GGG skill level his chin in made of granite and even he couldn't walk through sergios shots to pin him to a corner like he wanted to and was pretty busted up and was hurt several times and backed up

Martinez's reach is 75"...don't listen to that crap. Watch his fights against Paul Williams and you can he has to shorten up his punches more so than other fighters do against P-Willy because he has a long reach for someone of his height. He also had the ability to keep Pavlik on the end of his punches, KP also has a 75" reach.

impossible to tell without knowing which sergio shows up. i dont think he has the reflexes anymore, to avoid solid shots from ggg. the sergio of the last fight would not be able to deal with ggg.

I love Sergi nad in his prime it would have been great great fight, Sergio winning UD with going down during fight, but now i think GGG stops him Sergio doesnt have legs like before age is catching up to him.

He probably doesn't, but the plan would be to catch GGG on the way in with a single shot, then skip away and hope that the shot landed with enough force that it would cause Golovkin to reset and allow Martinez to maneuver out of range. Lather, rinse, repeat.

I personally don't believe GGG allows him to implement the plan, but that's probably what Sergio attempts to do.

I'm a big fan of Sergio but in all likelihood he would be stopped by Golovkin, a few years ago this fight would have been very interesting but after his last fight I think Sergio seems to have declined quite a bit and would probably be taken out.

Martinez could try to resurrect his legs and reflex in order to avoid or deflect heavy punches.

I think is would be a bad situation ole Serg. Not only now but at any time in his career. Not saying he is a bad fighter, just that Trip G is a lot better fighter. Not looking at their resumes, just their styles and Trip G has the style to hurt Sergio.

    Good post.

Best way to deal with his power is to get hit as little as possible, which would have been more possible if he was in his prime: Now its doubtful if he can put in a performance to the quality of his performance vs Chavez Jr which would be needed, and probably more vs GGG.

Quincy K, you saved me from having to type all i was just going to,
as I was just going to start of with sergio never really 'earning' the
middleweight championship as the past champs have. He's had a very
carefully managed career since losing to Pwill in the 1st fight. Also, about
Macklin..........:!:All i can say is dayyuuumm!!

He doesn't. He get LIFO or finds a place to lay down and get paid.

You've been hanging around to many Manny Pacquiao training camps.

Bet you were thinking the same thing right before the 3rd Marquez-Pacquiao fight! :yep
