Vanes Martirosyan Vs. Demetrius Andrade.

nobody should hold the belt hostage because of an injury.....martirosyan over andrade.

 

IMO Vanes winning would be an upset, not a big one.

 

So they stripped Baysangurov ? I think i had heard Andrade and Vanes would fight for the interim belt with the winner fighting Zaurbek eventually.

Some articles mention a back injury yet i'm pretty sure i read somewhere the fight was cancelled because one of Zaurbek's relatives had passed away (on espn's fnf but not 100% sure). :think

It was his 2nd or 3rd time pulling out of a fight due to an injury, therefore, WBO stripped him. However, he is the Mandatory for the winner of Vanes - Andrade immediately after. Seems fair to me, not much different than him defending it against one of these guys, last man standing still takes it home.

 

I have Vanes beating him, with a good chance of knocking him out. Andrade hasn't faced anyone with nearly the speed, power, or skill of Vanes where as Vanes has been in the ring with Lara and Joe Green, who both also happen to be Southpaws like Andrade. .

Think Andrade is a bigger version of Lara, very similar style except he's a bit slower and +/- in power. Andrade hates pressure and has poor defense. This hungrier fighter will win, just as simple as that.

 

As much as I don't like Vanes, he proved himself against Lara. He is a clear level above Boo Boo, who definitely would lose to Lara (badly) and maybe even to a motivated version of Kassim Ouma like the one who gave some trouble but still got clearly outpointed by Martirosyan.

Andrade's best conquests are made-to-order El Riel and over-the-hill Bad Boy - both of whom Martirosyan would likely toy with and stop. (which Andrade failed to do)

Andrade is very unlucky about Baysangurov's injury. That was maybe the best shot he will ever have at being handed an easy world title. Having to go through Martirosyan for the vacated belt is a much taller order.

 

Why is the poll anonymous?

 

He will be, the WBO already mandated it.

As for the stripping, if the injury/healing timetable will put him outside their required period of activity then yes it's a fair strip...especially with them making him mandatory challenger for a chance to immediately reclaim it.

 

What is it with Russian WBO title holders and back injuries?

I could see Andrade out boxing Vanes in a close fight, but Vanes has the better promoter... Meanwhile Andrade's team has done an extremely poor job preparing him for this level.

andrade hasn't yet fought anybody that's at the top level.
