u still fail to see the big picture. 2/3 of the titles Geale held, he could have used those titles to get a fight going with Martinez and had he won he would be undisputed champ, the money he would earn from sponership deals etc would have far exceeded the 2 mill he made from mundine PLUS he could have still fought Mundine and demanded more money, he basicly cut his nose off to spite his face and the only reason one does that is if they DONT belive Geale could have defeated GGG, which is the forgone conclusion if you dont have your head firmly stuck up Geales ass.

what is with all the geale hate ?? he seems a likeable guy who went and beat sturm then took a big dollar fight that was safe . at the end of the day boxing is a job to him and it makes sense to make as much money as you can while you can . you cant box forever geale probably has 5 years tops . god its not as if he has faced bum after bum or anything . like i said he went to germany to beat sturm and then avenged the only loss of his career . give the bloke a break , for i think and see where he is at in 3 or 4 fights time would be fair .

No connection to that website, just my name on here. If im HBO, i'm saying to every top 10 middleweight out there - your not getting our money and getting on our network unless you fight Golovkin. If the Geale-Barker winner decides not to fight Golovkin and goes another route then they should not be let back on HBO. Its not been harsh, these guys profess to be the top guy in the division, if they are - prove it. Fight Golovkin.

And made a shitload of money while Golovkin who is far better than Mundine can only get 350k per fight. FFS it's basic commonsense. When Calzaghe had the WBO and IBF he dumped the IBF belt to fight Peter Manfredo jr rather than Steiglitz for money and to try to get American exposure. Who's to say he won't try to unify with Golovkin when both are better known and can get decent money.

Exactamundo Stiffs old trout , who the **** was Robert Steiglitz back then and Joe by then couldn't give a rats arse about winning the IBF as he'd already accomplished unification and Had met half of showtimes Mega fight potential criteria , ie he had the attention of the hard core fans with his emphatic win over the greatly favored Lacy ( all that remained was to get the casual fight fan$$$$$ who pay the PPV bucks singing from the same hymn sheet ) which he did by sorting the reality TV mega star Peter Manfraedo out , WHO will be Geales Lacy ? & If successful v him then the world really is his oyster IF he can find a Manfredeo .

That is the exact route i expect HBO to go with Geale-Barker winner.
Geale wont get another HBO date unless he fights Chavez Jr., GGG or Martinez...Gary Shaw is useless as a promoter & has no stable to warrant HBO giving him a date anytime soon.

Martinez's advisor mentioned he would face GGG sometime in 2014 (late) he is injured at the moment and needs to heal and maybe a tune up before taking on GGG.

I think it would be a good fight

I still believe that Sergio will, in fact, fight Golovkin at some point in '14. They've got the same promoter and there's simply too much money involved to not make it happen.
After that, he should move up as there are some huge money fights to be made at 168.
In the meantime, he'll probably fight Murray or Lee before the end of the year.

He will be back April 2014 and may have 2 fights and retire I read.

Sergio Martinez is going to take a lengthy vacation from the ring to recover from injuries suffered in his semi-controversial April win over Martin Murray, hoping to get back into the ring in March or April 2014, and he's also thinking about retiring after two more fights, due to a promise he made to his mother.
Martinez, 38, was tentatively slated to face Julio Cesar Chavez Jr in a major money rematch this fall, but injuries are piling up due to age and, perhaps, the fact that the relatively small Martinez has made his biggest career moves fighting bigger men, which will likely remain the way it is for whatever is left of his career. He'll turn 39 next February, which could wind up being his last year in the sport.
Sergio (51-2-2, 28 KO) may still face Chavez Jr in one of those possible two fights next year, since it's likely the biggest money out there for him. There aren't many HBO-available middleweights out there who bring a whole lot to the table, save perhaps for Gennady Golovkin in time, if he keeps moving forward the way he has been. One idea might be to match Sergio with the Daniel Geale-Darren Barker winner next spring (those two will fight in August), and then look at Golovkin or Chavez after that for a potential final fight.
What do you think Sergio should do? Go out taking risks, or look to maximize his profits and minimize the danger?

No Bigger fan than Martinez than me but at 38 I just don't think he is foolish enough to go down the Golovkin path and I would not begrudge Him if he didn't more than likely He will go the Geale or Chavez option in my opinion.!!!!

True. Geale is not a big puncher,Barker has power but nothing like Golovkin who has murderous power and a better skill set than Barker and maybe even Geale. So he may pick up the IBF belt and cash out with a JCCjr fight. Golovkin is a huge risk for little reward. But after Sundays effort GGG will be getting more than 350k for his fights surely.

The huge risk, little reward argument won't hold weight much longer. Proksa his first fight on HBO: 650,000 viewers. Macklin his third fight on HBO: 1.1 million viewers. People are watching, he's well liked. He's going to bring plenty of money to the table in future bouts so if Geale and Quillin use that excuse its because they simply don't want to fight him, end of.
