As soon as he lost to Tarver I knew it was over. Having followed his career ,IMO that should have been a wakeup call to Jones to try new things. I couldn't watch his recent losses;the Calzaghe abortion affected me deeply when I saw some clips.
Non of these boxers who 'beat' Roy would have been able to replicate what they did in the 90s. Look at where Tarver is... he smearing coco-butter and going bad that Kayode outworked him lol...
I actually had hope that Roy just started slowing a little and got caught by Tarver, but would come back hungry and still an elite fighter. It was laying on the canvas against Johnson when I realized Roy was not the same anymore. He actually did Ok against Calzaghe for being so brutally knocked out years earlier. I never thought he would be in the ring in a meaningful fight again after his loss to Johnson.
So the guy who gets KO'd in one round says that's the guy who is faster. Who would have thought? Please...
