Cheers M8:good Hopeful, but sounding pretty guarded I thought. Pirog's return would definitely make things far, far more interesting.

I cannot speak for the rest of my fellow Americans but I feel safer already knowing that my government is protecting me by not allowing an English prizefighter with a juvenile record a visa to come over here for a week and have a televised boxing match.

Tax dollars well spent, USA USA USA

Off to celebrate our Independence Day...:hi:

Murray is a tough f\/cker, but can he handle GG's power?

That's kinda why I'd love it made, Murray's physically a strong and powerful guy, but with a lot of reserve (caution) in the ring - Gennady's a come forward pressure guy, principally, but that should play more into Murrays style of defense and counter-attack.

On paper it's a lovely fight, and the biggest test for Golovkin yet. Much as I'm a GGG fan, Mack was a fighter who coulda been made for him.

Murray would actually show us far more. Personally I've no doubt about Golovkins ability to first control the tempo of the fight, then methodically break Murray down, but I'd love Murray to be able to pull a real test outta GGG.

edit. So far as I know, Murray's never been down in his pro career, that correct?

i think so, though i'm not 100% sure

I would be very intersting, as you mentioned, GG vs a strong fighter with a good defense and decent counterpunching, if GG beats Martin in better fashion than Sergio, there will be no where to run and Sergio will HAVE to fight GG

Murray's a good fighter, but I'd rather see Golovkin fight someone who's not just like Macklin. Martin's always bitching about Matthew, but he's constantly in his foot steps.

It sounds like a Aug/Sept soft touch, and November will be a ranked opponent. I honestly would prefer Curtis Stevens or Rubio over Murray. Though HBO is considering televising the Aug/Sept now. In that case maybe Rubio/Stevens in Aug/Sept and Sturm/Murray November.

Damn it, I knew there was someone. Curtis fk'n Stevens, I'd thought of him a bit ago and the guys hungry an' lookin pretty good. (my mate who uses boxrec tells me he's fighting in August tho)

Said earlier tho, Rubio may already have something lined up and Sturm's fighting this Saturday but I've a feeling that no way and no how is he fighting Golo. any month of the year.

Let's see how Showtime does in his next fight cos if he shows well it's an extra name on the list at MW.

Murray can't fight in the USA due to spending some time in prison (it is ridiculous) but GGG's team have spoken about the fight taking place in the UK. if that's the case, there is no reason this fight doesn't happen. i'm sure HBO would be happy with that considering the crowds that British fights bring. Murray is proven and would be a bigger test than Macklin proved to be.

The only reason Murray went the distance with Martinez was because he fought ultra conservative and Sergio dosn't have a good body attack. Just look at the Last two rounds against Sergio, he took some good shots and you could tell he was out of gas and out of it. Golovkin pummels him into his turtle shell, ko's him before the 10 and we'll still be waiting for the "test".

Golovkin will destroy all the stationary fighters. He will brake Murray to the body his high guard defense won't work against GGG. Golovkin will have trouble with good movers boxers like prime Sergio and good crafty inside fighters like Ward.

He didn't just go the distance man, he arguably beat Sergio.

Adama. One thing is for certain, this guy isn't scared and he will come to fight and to win. Make it happen.

Arguably by Martinez haters. Sure Murray had his moments, parrying and blocking Sergio's shots but Sergio brought the fight to the challenger, was way more active and really took it to Murray in the championship rounds . Murray should have went for the kill since he was doing so well like he did in rd 12, oh thats right, Martinez landed some bombs on him and Murray wanted no part of that!
