This is very common in new guys that come into the gym and spar for the first time, and very common in street fights that I've seen in person and on youtube, Guys will lean very far back to not get clipped and fire back when they are in this position. at first i though it would be very easy to expose this but the akwardness of that style had me leaning to far in, I tried feinting and going to the body and that worked but I want to know how to neutralize this, not many amatuers do this but lots of new guy and guys on the street do. thanks
Not easy to neutralize this is how I fight. You force the guy to fall into your trap and to hit you, he usually has to cross over your leg. Good luck.
I do this sometimes. So does one of my sparring partners. What I do to counter this is to use lots of lateral movement and straight shots to the pit of the stomach. Just make sure to bend from the knees and they won't be in a position to fire back. When they catch on to this simply feint up top to get them to lean back again.
Double step-in once they have leant back on the first step-in there weight will be to far back for them to move again make the first step-in more of a fast faint but commit to the second step-in or throw some faints while moving forward with slow small steps backing them up to the ropes or corner so then you can do your combo remember alot of there Punch's will be very light so just walk through them
Double. ****ing. Jab. And triple it. When a guy leans back, (usually to their own right side) they naturally have to come forward and toward your right side to reset/hit you. Almost anything else they do isn't generally an immediate threat. The key is first to jab them when they lean back, because they can't escape multiple jabs if you're committed to it. The whole time, be ready for them to swing their head back to the center and catch it halfway with your right (like hitting a baseball). They won't lean back any more. You saw Silva-Weidman right? You can only lean back so far. The guy coming forward will find you if he knows what he's doing.
Better hope you don't fight a skilled leaner, its the hardest style to stop. If you feint it won't mean nothing because too much space to land is there. If you step in, you are iin their territory for a counter. Leaning is a counter punching style. We depend on the guy coming to us and hitting him where he is open to make action, and when we hit it is usually hard. You cannot win coming forward, because when you throw you are open, if you feint a jab or a hook I can slap it down and counter over it. The only thing you could really do would be to force me to attack you.
