Won on points with a knockdown in the 7th.

I really like Kevin Mitchell and there's cracking domestic scraps to be had in the lightweight division for him and us to watch. However I do find it amusing that he's always given the benefit of the doubt after his defeats, yet Ricky Burns had an off night against Gonzales (yet still winning) and he's ****, overated etc... not sure if that's just to wind up Billy??

Mitchell is a very good boxer, he is just too small to ever mix with the elite light weights

Burns just looked bigge and stronger when they met

I'd fancy Mitchell to beat someone like Crolla

Mitchell is just too small at lw he looked tiny against Burns and Prescott and just isn't strong enough to physically compete at the weight at a high level. He drinks and doesn't live the life of an athlete and that means his deficiencies have been further highlighted as he has probably damaged his body to some extent. He's also suspect in the chin department. I'd like to see him come back with renewed dedication and fight Rees, crolla, Matthews etc. but I think at world level he's done.

I spoke to Kev personally and speak to his mum. Kev stated he has changed his life style and is coming back fresh he wants around 3 more fights before Xmas to shake off the ring rust and then head for a big domestic clash. He is training on a regular basis and is not cutting corners he is making a much noted improvement in the gym. People need to give him a chance and not write him off just yet.. Remember he has beaten a few good names and only had two losses on his record which are nothing to be ashamed of. Katsidis and Burns. Most people would argue kevs days are over but being a exciting talented fighter should give me a chance again!

Well I'm glad despite the lack of discussion before this thread, most are onboard that they are still interested in him. Hopefully Matchroom can keep him busy and all being well get a shot at the European title next year.

To be fair he should be talked about he's a two weight world champ and a real sound guy,if he were English he'd be raved about on here let's be honest,Kevin is a good fighter but not at the same level as Ricky and never will be

  14. Yeah but billy you know I'm a Ricky supporter but this is a Mitchell thread

Burns Mitchell is done and dusted, burns smoked him
By the way did you hear him say he didn't have the right prep for the burns fight, total excuse.embarassing after claiming before and after the fight he was as good as could be

Utter bull****, get that massive chip off your shoulder. The English literally couldn't give a **** about the English / Scottish divide, the Scottish need to get over the fact. We don't hate you like you hate us, that's a fact, get over it.
