Thompson has only lost twice to Vlad, he was giving Vlad all he could handle in the first fight. Thompson is probably the best American heavyweight and greatly undervalued. Fury might have suffered the same fate, but it seems his management is a lot craftier than Price's. Price was not ready for a guy at Tony's level. He needed more work and after being destroyed the first time they should have gone back to the drawing board and the dumbest thing was to rematch Price immediately. 18 fights and Price may be beyond repair. Too much, too soon. A Ton of hype, not enough building, teaching or development and now the guy may be ruined.
New audley? This generations audley? I believe Fury is the real deal. I think he'd out-box Thompson quite comfortably to a 12 UD
To be fair, Price always had that question mark over his chin even since the amateurs, I believe even an 18 year old Tyson Fury dropped him good fighter, big punch, but very vulnerable
any heavy who gets clipped on the chin by another Heavyweight is going to sleep, yes his mandible may not be granite but it more a question of shitty defense and dumb fight strategy, than a glass mandible. The nervousness' and stress took all the stamina out of him. The management and handling of this guy is to blame he wasn't brought along well or matched correctly or progressively.
Price is managed by britt***s who, like a typical brit***d, are swept up by hype. The hilarious thing is that the same people who generated the hype were also swept up by it. And thus you have a prospect being brutally stopped by an ACTUAL grandfather, twice. In his backyard.
this is kind of a myth.. not every heavyweight is like that. it was ALOT of shots by Thompson as well.
a heavy weight who lands a good shot ON THE CHIN should knockdown or knockout HIS OPPONENT. Its not a cliche
Wilder refused to fight Thompson and for good reason. Thompson is the best American heavyweight...............Price was not ready for Thompson. Thompson is very underrated because Vlad knocked him out two times, not a TKO, but KO's. I don't see any American heavyweight taking a fight with Thompson.
It was the promoter's greed that made them send him back in against Thompson. That's what made them tell him that he can easily knock Thompson out, that's why he threw the kitchen sink at Thompson and then gassed out. Price had two painful lessons in two consecutive bouts. First the 'one punch KO', then the 'getting stopped when gassed out'.
When price lost I thought to myself this will probably destroy him. I mean he was comming up to becomming a world title challenger but now he's basiclly nothing.
