I can only see retirement as his only option. Can't see him coming back from 2 crushing defeats like that.

I don't see why people are saying he should retire. He's easily capable of having a decent career as British & Euro level fighter and who knows, despite his flaws, given enough serious training, improvements and experience he could potentially challenge for a world title in 5 years time.

First thing he needs to do is sack his trainer.

He should start with some fights against bums later in the year. Get some quick knockouts from now until December and get that confidence back up before progressing towards fights against decent but beatable opponents like Tor Hamer, Michael Sprott and Albert Sosnowski.

No way should he even consider stepping in with someone like Chisora yet.

  3. Sosnowski good shout, rogan McDermott towers maskaev liakovich anyone with a reasonable name who is available to build confidence
    But he needs rounds

He has power so can come back and beat good guys but realistically would he stand out technically against towers and I can believe I'm saying that

I think he should get on the blower to Vlad and Vitali and say his services are available as a sparring partner , thats exactly the sort of experience and training that will help build big Davie's confidence and sparring proper heavyweights will also improve his stamina

Apparently they have just called Gary Cornish and asked him to go for a month of sparring in germany so i dont see why they would 'nt take Davie also.

Price needs to get rid of his whole team, including Maloney.

He walked into that ring last night, confused who to listen too, terribly under-prepared and very, very nervous. The buck for that sits with Maloney.

Price could do worse than to move to ******...

I've been saying for a while Maloney is to blame for this, terrible, awful matchmaking has led to this. Putting him in with stiffs, has beens, and never weres. Then after pretty much fighting no one of any merit whatsoever they put him in with a solid world level operator in Thompson who is a wily veteran that pushed wlad all the way. Absolutely terrible.

And he can't fight more than 3/4 rounds without blowing out his arse he was often totally spent in his amateur career after a couple of rounds. He was never going to last the distance and doesnt have the punch variety to box to a decision, plus a truly appalling chin, it was always going to end in tears second time round. Backing Thompson was quite literally free money.

  10. Wasn't Maloney Lewis's matchmaker though

If he was then respect is deserved just look at Lewis,s cv
And Maloney said last night that Lewis wasn't his idea and he didn't want a Thompson rematch it was the fighter

What can he do,he believed in his man and put him in deep.much better than mollycoddling

He should fight away from home for a while, maybe on some German undercards, the pressure of fighting in front of Liverpool fans and the expectations that brought was too much for him. He was far too nervous and FAR too eager to please.

Fight some durable European journeyman that can take him a full 10 or 12 rounds on some klitchko undercards for a while.

  12. I like this
Maybe sauerland could do a cheap 3 fight deal with him

The point is Maloney Mollycoddled him up until the Thompson fight and he was ill prepared for that fight as a result. An almost 50 years old fat Skelton and Fraudley are not good prep for a seasoned pro in Thompson.

Forget Lewis that's nothing to do with Price, he should've been put in with durable guys and getting rounds and experience under his belt instead of knock over jobs then a guy that pushed Wlad pretty far. Price wasnt asked enough questions in his early fights and therefore had no idea what departments he needed to improve on prior to Thompson.

The truth is he looked amateurish in there and didn't have the technique, fitness, heart, intelligence, patience, or stamina to win the fight. Had they known more about his weaknesses they could have rebuilt him like Wlad with a tight guard and a piercing jab used to confuse his opponent and defend himself going forwards and backwards. Price just looked totally clueless.

I think the manner of the second defeat is very hard to bear. He got dragged to a dark place and ended up curled up in the fetal position. For a sport like boxing that's as good as announcing your retirement.
