i might be 2 weeks late but i saw him ringside kid in the olympics and saw some videos of him before, actually when you read the announcement you read some of my words since i wrote the wikipedia article which is quoted.
dogboe won the aba senior title 2.5 months ago and boxed in the olympics last year at 17. he has hell of potential and if i were in the position i would have signed him myself but with his latest successes he caught the attention of people like hyde and mcguigan with deeper pockets.
congrats on the signing and all the best from my side!

and regarding the despicable comments on his origin, let me ask you guys one question:
who was the last irish ppv star? exactly...
let's be real outside of ireland, a country with a population smaller than londons and a gdp less than that of countries like chile no one gives a **** about irish fighters except 5 people in dorchester. so if we go by potential fanbase, this thread should have never existed. let's just keep that in my mind before we start making disrespectful comments again...

little funfact to round off my comment:
pretty much every commercial or competitive record in the sport this forum is dedicated to is held by people who happen to share the same origin dogboe has - Africa.

    Good day lads :good !

Best of luck Luke will be there myself. Cant wait its the best small card I can remember. Is Brabazon on it aswel. Belfast is a true boxing city. One of the best in the world imo.

Would Tims be able to make light-heavy limit Luke. I'm sure the lads know each other well from the amateurs. The both boxed in the same weight at the seniors so they could have fought. Leon is keen to fight for the Irish title that's for sure.

Not that I've heard, and it's very unlikely imo.
RTÉ have no interest in boxing while Ryle Nugent is their head of sport, so we won't get anything on that channel while he's in his current role.
I think they've stated the expense of showing a live boxing card as the 'reason'.

TV3 have only shown boxing once before, and that was when (as far as I'm aware) they didn't have to spend a penny on the broadcast and it was all done for them.
TG4 have also only shown boxing once, Brian Peters last card headlined by Henry Coyle. As far as I'm aware the card was a success so not quite sure why nothing followed, but maybe someone else could shed some light.

I do wonder if perhaps someone like Joe.ie would be willing to stream the fights online (with a commentating team) so long as they incurred the costs. Similar to the way Loaded tv stream some of Maloney's stuff in the UK, although no idea what the exact arrangement is there. Even if you're not getting money for the broadcast directly, as long as costs aren't increased you've the potential for a card to make more money from increased advertising revenue.
There is also of course the option of something like GoFightLive.tv, but I don't think that would ever really work with Irish cards of that scale. Not sure ppv sales is ever a viable option for Irish boxing, and a fight shown on GFL.tv would likely lose more money from being shown than it'd make.

So I think that's where we stand on the tv front......nowhere :-(

Edit: Also forgot about Setanta Sports, they've shown some Irish boxing in the past but like everyone currently show **** all.

Yea I think they boxed alrite, I think Timsy beat him when he won his first Irish senior title , doubt he would make light heavy tho his natural weight is around 87kg so he's stuck between the two weights

some posters apparently were upset about the signing because it wasn't who they hoped for and started talking bs, just had to educate them...
