Would of a quick Khan v Prescott rematch be the same outcome as the Price fight

That was probably a bad idea. He developed some, not much, but some intelligence post Prescott. Prescotts always a tough fight if you choose to fight such a big strong powerful fighter at his own game.

 

If the rematch was taken within 5 months it is very possible. The instant rematch was a bad idea.

 

Khan would have lost again. People might applaud Price for having the guts to go for the rematch, but his career is in tatters, now. Khan has been much better managed and has had big fights while avoiding Prescott. It pains me to say it, but Khan did the right thing in doing the wrong thing!

 

No, because unlike Thompson Prescott is actually **** and Khan while certainly thick-headed wouldn't have in that situation gone in gangbusters like Price and would've simply boxed Prescott's head off from a safe distance making it more a track meet than a boxing match, touched only by Prescott's long jab but not his power.

 

How is Presscott ****. He gave Abril, Vazquez and Alvarado a hard nights work. Other than that he has only lost to Mitchell at a weight he was struggling with.

He is tall, rangy, has a good chin and good power.

 

1) Abril sucks. Don't even put him in the same breath as Vazquez (as some are wont to do); they're in different leagues. Abril is a B- grade spoiler; Vazquez a top class boxer. Abril lost on points legitimately to Hank Lundy and Breidis Prescott, showing him up as not exactly cut out for the big time. Giving a caveman like Rios a schooling doesn't launch you up on top of the mountain and neither does beating up the pitiful shell of the meteoric Aguacerito.

2) He didn't give Vazquez a hard night whatsoever, outside the 1st when he dropped him. After that Vazquez pretty much swept the rest of the way, a`la Pacquiao vs. Marquez I. Pay no mind to it being a SD, that scoring was rubbish and even Teddy Atlas who always favors aggressors with extreme prejudice thought it laughable that anyone could have anything but a wide loss for Prescott.

3) Fair enough he made some improvements starting with the Jargal performance and developed an outside game actually learning to utilize his reach and incorporate a jab - and yes, he did outbox Alvarado until the stoppage and was rightfully up on the cards...but at the end of the day he still got stopped. Alvarado threw about the same number of power punches and landed a lot more, and it came through in the result as he broke Prescott down and got rid of him. Alvarado was the better man when all said and done.

I also didn't have a major problem with the scoring against McCloskey. It was very close, enough to go either way...and that is telling, because McCloskey isn't great.

...and have you forgotten him getting tooled by Crawford?

Yes he does have all those attributes, but also crap stamina and very little in the way of complex skills (outside the improved go-go-gadget-jab) or adaptable ring IQ.


Had Khan returned any time since that night with a negative game plan and stuck to it, he would have kept Prescott twirling about in a clueless stupor and outpointed him with boring ease.
