Can Calzaghe beat Hopkins with one hand?

This is a serious question because Calzaghe is saying things like:


''I'll definitely mix things up with the power punches, I want to knock him out.''

''Believe me he's going to be feeling the power. I'm aiming to sit a bit more on my punches to hurt him."''

What happens if he damages a hand on Hopkins' hard skull - will he be able to outbox BHop with one hand? I doubt it :nono

So why take the risk of another hand injury against a guy who is probably unstoppable anyway?

I've just seen Wlad vs Austin. I didn't notice ONE right hand thrown by Klitschko in this fight. Mainly left jabs and in the second round he KO'ed Ray with triple left hook. Amazing!

To seriously answer your question if Calzaghe seriously damages his hand and B-Hop notices it, Joe will be in trouble..

It's like saying that Joe is actually miles away better than Hopkins that even a one-handed JC can beat Hopkins. That's a lot of bs. I predict a JC win but not a one-handed JC.

 

No, they were Grant because he thanked Elvis Grant in the post fight interview. He got hurt in three, four rounds with Thornberry and Ashira and fought through pain against Lacy and after seven ( the round when he cornered ( pushed Jeff into a corner) and snapped his head back with a fast left hook as Lacy tried to trade in that position)... The hardest punch that Calzaghe hit Kessler with was that body shot in the last 30 seconds of the eight. This is just an additional reason for Calzaghe to wind up with his flurries of punches and try just to run numbers on Hops.

Calzaghe can hurt his hands on Hopkins gloves, arms and shoulders... He can hurt his forearms, his shoulders and back b.c. he was about to leave the game for all those injuries before... I expect him to absorb head shots but not body shots, he simply doesn't have the strong abs to take it down there.

 

The only eveidence I've ever seen that Calzaghe might be vulnerable to the body is when Byron Mitchell was hurting him, so what leads you to believe that this is his weak spot?

Calzaghe - Brewer after 10 rounds - Punches landed: Calzaghe 255 - 222 head, 33 body; Brewer 145 - 62 head, 83 body (2.5 times more than Calzaghe's)... If the fight was fought at close quarters, how come Joe didn't go to the body as much as to the head? One explanation could be that he doesn't like to take it down there and switched his attacks upstairs as much as he could. Otherwise, it's just a subjective impression I have - Hatton doesn't seem susceptible down there because he seems so strong and hard - the same cannot be said about Calzaghe.

No. He is gonna need all he has to beat Hopkins. I wonder what the odds are on this fight. It seems like not many people give Hopkins a shot. Which is very stupid.
