For the pro debut you want the opponent to be a big, but not fat, bloke with a glass jaw. You would want him to look good with an early KO. I am not sure who I would pick. Both Lennox Lewis & Audley Harrison started with joke opponents. Tyson Fury started with a skinny cruiser weight, but his 2nd opponent was pretty entertaining. Within the first 5 fights I would have Paul Butlin & Paul Morris, and also have Remigijus Ziausys as his first step opponent. I would then work towards Sprott & Page within 10 fights
Wouldn't move him too quickly, although he's done well as an amateur I think he's only had something like 40/50 fights.
Lennox Lewis flattened an Area Champion on debut... It is not about the quality early on for me, but the speed of development. Lennox Lewis did indeed meet a few bums starting off. But within 18 months was a European Champion, and inside two years had beaten a legit unbeaten top 10 Heavyweight. Joshua can flatten a dozen fat Latvian Taxi drivers as far as I am concerned. As long as he does it quickly whilst 'learning his trade', I am quite happy personally.
He shouldn't be pushed too hard. People seem to forget he should have been knocked out in the first round of the Olympics after getting destroyed by Savon while losing by about 8 points on anybodys sensible scorecard.
His first 5 opponents will be... A Fat Latvian A Little Hungarian Some Doorman from Stoke with a reall hardman reputation A 2 and 58 Serbian who has only been stopped by top top top fighters and who once went the distance with a Klitschko as an amateur then a REAL STEP UP IN CLASS, is it too soon? will Joshua come unstuck against a shot to **** 40 year old, on a 10 losing streak Danny Williams... but remember he beat Mike Tyson, can he turn back the clock one last time?
Thankfully Williams will not get a licence to fight in this Country, and I would think Joshua's team would not rock the boat with the authorities this early in his career, for such little gain.
PERFECT!!! :good man...you should be a boxing manager! ...i wouldnt be suprised if you already are! i cant wait for Anthony Joshua v The Stoke Bouncer! :good
Yeah i felt very sorry for felix savon it was a travesty that fight, Joshua lost twice at the games imo but i still think he can be a decent pro
