You could make an argument that the last 8-9 opponents of Floyd's, were either jumping up in weight or way past their prime. We can give Floyd props for Castillo, Corrales and Judah, but his recent opponents have been less than prime. I guess you could make an argument for JMM, but even still, he was jumping up to a higher weight.
Interesting rankings from Bert Sugar's top 100 fighters. This is from 2009. These guys apppear at the top of the list far ahead of where they should: 9. Jack Dempsey 14. Rocky Marciano 17. Julio Cesar Chavez 21. Jimmy McLeran 27. Jake LaMotta Way too low, laughably low. He loses all credibility here: 22. Archie Moore 24. Ezzard Charles 39. Sandy Saddler 47. Marvin Hagler 48. Pernell Whitaker 50. Thomas Hearns 55. Carlos Monzon 66. Bob Fitzsimmons And then look how he stuffs the ass end of the lsit: 88. Roy Jones Jr. 90. Aaron Pryor 91. Bernard Hopkins 100. Mike Tyson I don't care the slightest about the opinion of the guy who made that list.
88. Roy Jones Jr. 90. Aaron Pryor 91. Bernard Hopkins 100. Mike Tyson Is he for real?! Marvin Hagler and Carlos Monzons rankings are quite surprising as well
I have jake lamotta right where bert has him. Wins over 2 top 10 all time greats in his division. If you wanna say cerdan was outside the top 10 middles fine but still. Jake is slept on too much
:deal Prime Buchanan would've frustrated the **** out of Mayweather. Buchanan's a top 10 ATG brit fighter, but he's top 3 in terms of technical ability imo.
I've never understood why so many people have ranked Moore above Charles. even when factoring in the former's longevity. I'm not just looking at the H2H situation. Charles was clearly a better fighter in every division they fought in.
it's the most pathetic list i've ever seen. Hagler higher than Monzon? WTF!! atsch Joe Calzaghe is a whole lot more proven than Hagler, and he isn't even on the list. so much is wrong with it, you could be here all day ripping it apart. hideous.
