I watched the Hull bill last night and it was disgraceful, I never seen so may on one night was Eddie Hearn paying the ref or something? First off you had the Derry Matthews one, okay Derry Mathews landed a good shot and dropped the lad and he was shook but Derry was getting absolutely battered and he landed a hail Mary, the lad got up all be it on unsteady legs but he could of fought on the ref could of let it run, yes Derry may have finished him but at least give the lad the chance of continuing.

Then you have the Kell brook one, again Kell was battering him but the ref ruled a knock down when there wasn't one and yes Carson was in trouble but he's been in trouble a lot of times in the fight, Its unfair because you don't know if Carson could of got on top of him in the next two rounds he was tagging Brook and maybe could of landed a ko punch, I know its unlikely but you never know what could happen, this is boxing, think if we'd had that type of stoppage in Benn vs McClellan it robs the public of great fights because they are not allowing the fighter to come back from
    adversity.

Then you have the worst of the lot Luke Campbell, the first punch he landed was a good shot on top of the head okay the guy got up and was then thrown to the floor ref rules a knock down again there wasn't one and then all Luke Campbell does is throw a flurry of punches doesn't matter if they land or not the ref jumps in. Seems to me all you have to do is throw a flurry of punches when you have your opponent in trouble then the ref wades in, its killing the sport and on top of that its ****ing pathetic this is a tough guy sport, think of all the great fight that would of been stopped in the past.

I know the main argument is the fighters safety but look at Jake LaMotte he took some beatings at the hands of Robinson they would of been British stoppages today and he's still looking well at 92 years old. Sky are also biased as **** Eddie payed the ref off. Thoughts please

    Coyle stoppage was correct.

Jones one maybe a bit early but was starting to take a battering, was clearly behind on score cards so no major issues there.

Sadly missed the Campbell fight so can't comment on that.

None of the stoppages were shockers and none deserved a thread.

Of course not, but he was starting to take a beating from Kell and wasn't giving anything back. I've said it was potentially a bit early but have no bearing on the result of the fight as he was clearly on his way to a defeat.

yea I agree he was hurt but he did get up, okay he was on unsteady legs but he was so far ahead on the score cards maybe the ref could of given him a chance just to see if he could shake it off or tie Derry up, Derry was completely ****ed aswell.

That's the problem you see you don't know that for sure, I agree it is unlikely but you could of said that about Benn when he was Knocked threw the ropes in the first round against McClellan and other Benn fights one punch can change everything, look at Derry he was taking a beating also.

I would rather see a hundred fights stopped too soon, than one stopped too late. If the controversy for an 'early' stoppage is such, there can always be a rematch. That is not always going to be the case when someone is stretched out the ring, because a ref was being 'brave'.

    Absolutely spot on.

The Kell fight for example, Jones was taking an increasing amount of punishment without offering anything in return. How long is long enough in that instance before you stop it?

  15. Remember that boxing had a boom in the late 80s early 90s with the super middles were shown on terrestrial tv to massive audiences.this made boxing a mainstream attraction that was heavily publicised, one of the long term effects of this era was the benn McClellan and eubank Watson fights that were shown live to the nation
Two great young sportsmen were seriously injured that had a lasting impact on medical provisions at the venue and I believe referees intervening quicker to avoid tradgedies

I might be well off the mark here.but seeing violent but heroic boxing is exhilarating seeing contestants brutally injured whilst trying to earn a living is horrific
And we get stick for British stoppages yet we have had 1 death and at least 2 career ending brain injuries this year.so in my eyes it's a necessary to look after the boxers health first and foremost
I obviously moan about early stoppages and hate seeing a good scrap prematurely finished like everyone and I didn't see any problems in the Derry coyle fight or the brook jones fight
Carson jones is too brave for his own good and had taken too many sickening head shots all night and coyles eyes were temporarily gone

Also on another note i am all in favour of erring on the side of caution more in a 4-6 rounder where there's only going to be one winner
When it's high stakes 12 rounders where the fighters have top class recuperative powers then you can be more tolerant but professional in your care to the boxers involved
