For me definetly the Hughie Fury hype here on the forum. Many users claim he has better skills than Mike Tyson and that he beat his record either .. the youngest HW champ. I also never understood the Haye hype .. he did not show anything against Wlad instead of making the Road Runner and beat two bums like Chisora and Walujew. Fanboys still claim he is P4P #3 atsch The Proksa Hype was also quite funny. They named him here "The best Middleweight in the World"
Hughie Fury looks great in the ring. If he had a little more size, he'd be boss. I wish he was a little bigger, but I totally like what I see.
The craziest hype I've seen on here, the Jeff Lacy hypetrain was BY FAR the most outrageous. The hysteria on this board after he stopped Robin Reid and Scott Pemberton (lol) eclipsed the hype over Broner, Canelo, Lucas, etc combined. The hype over Lacy was so crazy because there were no dissenting factions. Even the Brits who favored Calzaghe or even Kessler to edge Lacy predicted that they would only edge him by exploting a lack of experience. Even they predicted he would improved and eventually become unbeatable.
6' 6" / 235 lbs, and he isn't big enough for you? :yikes Anyway, everyone knows who the most over-hyped boxer in recent memory is, moreso even than Bute. I won't say who, so as not to offend any of our British members, but his name starts with "Joe" and ends with "zaghe."
GGG is getting up there. The way some keep carrying on about him you'd think he's already cleaned out the MW division and moved up to beat the sh*t out of all the top SMWs.
Also, I think we can now all agree that the David Price hype was just a WEEEEE bit unwarranted. (I want my 500 v-bucks back!)
:think He got the Hype but it was mostly "what if". He looked promicing and is a fun watch. The Middleweight dw has had some fun moments. Both Pirog and Proksa were hailed as the next kings and Martinez was supposedly scared of them
Dont think Hughie Fury gets over hyped, or seen anyone say he has better skills than Tyson, pretty sure everyone knows what they see.. Just a young good prospect. No more no less at this stage
The problem I have with hyping fighters is when people claim someone is good based on the 'eye test'. I can look as amazing as Floyd against mediocre/bad boxers. But if I try that **** against a world champion I'd be killed.
I agree. Anyone can look elite when they are facing opposition that is massively over matched. A fighter should be judged on the quality of the opposition beaten not on how they look beating a journeymen. The hype over Golovkin at the moment is huge. He has yet to prove he is the best in his division yet it seems most automatically rate him as the number 1 at middleweight and even a top P4P fighter. He's passed everything so far with flying colours and may go on to be great but it's too soon to be calling him the middleweight monster some seem to think he is when he is still untested and the highest level. The Jeff Lacy hype was also huge prior to Calzaghe. I predicted Calzaghe would stop him in 7 rounds as I was sure Calzaghe was just too good but I felt I was in the minority, most expected a Lacy win or close fight for Calzaghe, very few thought Calzaghe was on another level.
Curtis Stevens, Jeff Lacy, Joel Julio all had ridiculous hype on here before really accomplishing anything...
