Rigondeax is WBA Champ, this is a paper title and fans are being conned if they're lead to believe otherwise.

:bart Yep, fans believe its an actual 'world' title. It's the same as Povetkin's, it doesn't mean ****.
But surely it'll be in Manchester on Sept 28.

Same rubbish Bernard Dunne conned many Irish into thinking he was a world champion.

Not a fan of this "super" or "regular" champion stuff. Have four world champions and a transparent system for defences so that the best fighters in the division get the opportunity to fight for the world titles regularly.

    Wishful thinking on my part.

It's a step in the right direction though for quigg, cleverly holds a full world title yet hasn't fought a world champion as of yet and it's not done his profile any harm.

Ultimately all the belts mean nothing unless they're unified by a champion which in today's sport is increasingly and frustratingly rare. Can't see quigg jumping in with rigondeaux anytime soon though somehow !

The WBA count the Regular belt as being a legit World Championship, its bonkers i know. That Russain who holds the WBA LWW title and Povetkin at HW call themselves a World Champion.

Maidana and Rios also held "Regular" or interim titles and they also called themselves World Champions. The WBA are confusing fight fans.

You really dont no with these type of fighters it was the same with Gonzalez for Burns and it turned out Gonzalez was a quality operator, as you said the cuban guys will have good basics and i expect Salinas is a quality fighter but in my eyes so is Quigg so quality fight

Salinas doesn't really deserve a world title opportunity...

Crazy that both fighters get this op.

I agree with Ice and the other other, a world champion in Quigg it will not make but at least he will hold a belt and be able to bargain.

Decent step up and should push on from there.

Barry is going to have some explaining to do to Carl!!!

Not really so crazy that Quigg does...at least compared to Salinas.

Quigg has at least been here before, technically - going 1-0-1 against the Bin Man in what may been mere "interim" bouts yet still constitute world title affairs. Salinas has never been within sniffing distance of such class and his best result by far is drawing with a downtrodden Cermeno in the midst of a 1-4 slump (and who subsequently lost to Bakhtin to extend it to 1-5-1...) followed by a knockout of walking dead J.A. Molina.

He never once fought on a major televised card in North America (the closest being a swing bout on Telemundo against DaLuz) and of his televised appearances in South America he never once headlined. There is really no justification for him suddenly catapulting into the big time like this. He does bring a zero, and the "slick" Cuban style (although he is only semi-slick...often keeping both hands down but more from sheer laziness and he gets wild attacking with hooks to the body leaving his chin badly exposed) and he does possess a mean counter right hand that could prove a danger if Quigg makes a mistake. :think

    1 Mayweather
    2 Ward
    3 JMM
    4 wlad Klitschko
    5 Rigondeaux
    6 Pacquiao
    7 Mares
    8 Canelo
    9 Bradley
    10 Martinez
    11 Golovkin
    12 Broner
    13 Donaire
    14 Froch
    15 Roman Gonzalez

No way froch gets into the top 10 out of my top 10 who is froch honestly better then any of them
