the criticism of calzaghe's career path is justified
the way to change the minds of us slow americans is to make your mark on a bigger stage and justify homegrown belief

Which he did. It's just the usual arrogant American belief that if a fighter doesn't travel to the US he is not legitimate somehow. Some of your fighters need to a grow a pair and come and fight over here for a change. :deal:hi:

its not about 'us versus them', not when i'm posting anyway
in all sports, the best gravitate to where they will get the best exposure and competition because it legitimizes their claim to greatness

if boxing central was in britain i'd be agreeing with you, but it isnt

Calzaghe and Lewis both knew the importance of fighting in America on the world stage.. Which is why they DID.:deal

Of course one waited a lot longer than the other.

Tyson Fury doesn't act like a pikey gypsy. Tyson is actually an English gentleman with a good sense of humour

The op is a pathetic attention seeking ******. He knew people would be annoyed when he said that Lewis was Canadian. Clearly, he is a dumbass when it comes to boxing as his Passport is British as well as his place of birth. :rofl

True brits win Olympic gold for different countries and have the name of a different country in their nickname.

Nothing shows more dedication to the british way.

That was his decision as he was a young fighter at the time, his family were living in Canada.... Only Lewis knows why he fought for Canada, but the fact is that he is 100% British. So stop acting like a ******. :good

so floyd is african/american... welcome to the modern world.

oh, and Lewis was British with a Jamaican background which he was proud of. Canada is just where he grew up since he was 9 years old.

the best competition was in the UK where the Super Middles are concerned, so everyone had to go to him. not only that, but there was more money to be had as well.

the best exposure was also in the UK and Europe. much, much bigger numbers were watching than the US. the same as it is now.
it's just the American arrogance to suggest that you're on the world stage only when you fight there. it's stupid.

Joe's the greatest Super Middle in history, that's greatness enough. he cleared the division out. the only fights that never happened were by those who refused to fight him.

Joe was willing to travel for Hopkins and Jones because it made more money over there at the time. they didn't want the fight until much later because they weren't confident of the win. they only fought him when they did due to not being able to avoid him any longer. because if they did, they would have been mocked for being cowards. again.

  14. Only reason he fought for Canada is because the Brit Olympic committee picked some big doofus over Lewis like the thick ****ers they are.

So the only way that Lewis could go the Olympics is by fighting for Canada.

  15. The Brit Olympic board picked James Oyebola over Lewis because he did look a beast at 6ft 9 and tipped to do great things, Lewis then went on to fight Oyebola in the Commonwealth games and beat his ass.

Lewis had every intention of fighting for GB but just never got picked. He explained this in his book.
