Its more than just an H2H argument when grading someone at a particular weight. What a fighter accomplished and who they fought at particular weight also should be weighed heavily. Mayweather simply didnt accomplish what Duran did who ultimately had the 2nd greatest reign ever next to Benny Leonard at lightweight.
LW? No. Junior lightweight? He's in that conversation; top five. (basically it's him, El Flaco Explosivo, the Prof., and the pair of Filipinos - each with a case for rating above or below any of the others)
Duran or Benny Leonard is the greatest LW of all time. Both of them fought for a very long time at LW and their resumes show that either can be considred the G.O.A.T. resume wise at 135. Mosley also had a very nice run at 135 when he fought in that division. Floyd didn't fight long at 135, but I'd favor him over any of those guys. In fact, I'd favor him against anyone at 130-140, in the lower weights he was a helluva two way fighter, could fight in the pocket very effectively, and although he didn't possess 1 punch KO power, he did have a lot of pep behind his punches at 130 and 135 and the accumulation of his punches could knock a guy down/out in the latter rounds. He's very tough as a H2H matchup from 130-140 because of his punching accuracy, the fact that his opposition generally land only around 20% on him, and he keep himself in supreme physical condition so you can't bet on him wearing down in the later rounds.
Duran would murder the kunt, he'd smash the **** out of him. Duran would pulverise mayweather at 135, no way does Floyd survive 15. He's getting stretchered out of there. No way does Floyd beat Pernell Whitaker or JCC or Arguello the list is endless. Mayweather is just the modern day product/result of HBO & alphabet sanctioning bodies juxtaposed with outrageous cherry picking. Floyd is a remarkably skilled exponant of the noble art, but he's today's creation, no way he survives or dominates an era in boxing when there was only the WBC/WBA with all divisions ram jammed packed with contenders hungry for there only (Proberbly) one shot at the title. Back when there was only the 2 governing bodies there was no where to hide & sooner rather than later Floyd's gonna get gunned down. Only the very elite ever stayed at the top for any length of time & Duran's one of them. To even suggest that the likes of Floyd could beat a lightweight monster that was Duran is a fukin idiot. Castillo **** Floyd up, just imagine what Duran would do to him, as I said he'd beat the kunt to death.
Duran's resume is **** at LW, and you know it. Both Chavez and Mayweather have better resumes, hell damn near anyone in the top 10 has a better resume at the weight. Duran is only called the GOAT LW because of one fight that came at welterweight.
No-one says Floyd is the best-ever at Lightweight - he's not even top 10. I do rate him as the best Super-Featherweight ever though, ahead of Arguello and Chavez.
