Some might remember the Martinez-Cintron fight, and the incident that occured there. The HBO commentators were debating whether Cintron's knee was off the canvas before the ref counted '10'. Malik's knees were definitely off the canvas by the time the ref reached 10, so he should have been allowed to continue.

I don't know why count started from 5 cause there wasn't any reason for that. referee was right there to start count just after scott went down

The ref stopped it a bit too soon. And it wasn't incompetence or an honest mistake, he wanted to help the home fighter.

But Malik should have not put himself into that situation, he should have stood up a second or two earlier.

Scott lost, even if the ref had not stopped the fight Chisora would have knocked him out anyway. And Scott said he was the best heavyweight in the world, by far, that he would easily knock Vitali and Vlad out cold?! LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Premature. But Scott was an idiot for not getting up beforehand.

Cant really say that its best to just forget about this fight you cant judge both of them on this one fight, Chisora landed one decent punch in the whole fight im not sure if he landed another good one like that to the head

Malik " Clown" Scott only has himself to blame, foolishness. A guy gets counted out like that i tend to question his heart .

Disgraceful stoppage. But it is nothing new, Malik should have known better.

Had Scott never taken a count before or summit?

Experienced fighters will usually get up 6-7, 8 at the very latest.

He was up on 9 tho, and clearly ready to fight. He won't be makin' that mistake again in a hurry. Bad call from the ref - he could see Scott was willing to continue.

That said, Malik was probably on his way to a loss anyway. He demonstrated that he is (and was never at 32) not going to make an impact on the top echelons at HW.

What is considered standing after a knockdown? both feet on the floor ie squat\crouch position? Or must you be standing up straight away from the ropes by the count of 10? from what I've seen, when fighters are KD but fine to continue they are usually in the squat position by before 8 and straighten up on 8/9.
What is all ths "Typical British Stoppage" stuff in reference to? Are there actually rules\guidelines in the UK stricter than usual, is it just an attitude or does it only happen when in favour of the 'preferred' fighter ie corruption?

In Britain fights are often stopped earlier than elsewhere when a fighter is in trouble, this is due some of the injuries suffered in the 90s, but that is irrelevant to this situation.
