At just 23 years old does BJS have the potential to achieve something like what Joe Calzaghe did? they're both south paws, both quick and BJS seems to have a good set of whiskers on him.Is that where the similarities end? I already think he's already the best middle weight in Britain.
Overhyped imo, he can definitely box a bit but he looks small at 160 and doesn't seem to have any power Best MW in Britain? I'd pick Murray, Barker, Macklin to definitely beat him, would also give Eubank JR the edge over him. I like BJS but don't think he'll make it past euro level
Domestic level is all he can get. He looked very good against last night but Sullivan did not throw many punches and it seemed to me the ones that landed bothered BJ a little. He will have trouble as soon as he faces someone who will punch as much as him. He may get past Ryder but Murray or GGG or martinez, no way.
i think he beats Martinez now,he's past his best,to much movement and work rate for Murray.O.k GGG is an animal he cuts the ring off so well and hurts everyone.
the worrying thing is, he should be knocking out guys like hall and the irish fighter he faced. these type of opponents are domestic level. i seem him struggling beyond the domestic scene.
ignore the trolls BJ Saunders looked brilliant yesterday massive talent still very young will improve definately will be a world champion to say he won't get past domestic level, eubank jnr will beat him, etc - 100% BULL**** lol. So many negative haters on here you need to get a life. Saunders is a brilliant all round talent, how can you be negative after a fantastic performance like that
I will agree he did well against sullivan but , O'sullivan did not throw a lot back. He had billy backed to ropes a few time and nothing. The few times he was hit he looked a little taken back. You could see that Saunders punches were not doing a lot of Damage on O sullivan. I think when he fight someone who is willing to let their hands go he will have to slow down, and plant his feet and put some pwer into his shots if he is going to compete on the next level. Time will tell, he is no chump, but to say he is world class now is premature.
He has power, he doesn't have pure 1 punch massive power like Golovkin and the Klitschkos... but you don't need that to be successful, he has enough punch power. I'd back him against Quillin right now and it looks like hes gonna go down the WBO route, in a couple of years he'll have improved and will be ready for the elite guys.
he has little power but has good punch output. if he increases stamina and fills into his body (seems a small 160) maybe he can develop pop to keep the top tier guys honest, to go along with his good speed/boxing ability
Doubt it, Ryder has less decent competition than Saunders I will agree that IF he improves his power he could be great.
Saunders will go all the way I'm certain of it, even in a very strong division Saunders vs Ryder should be a very high level boxing fight between 2 top prospects, there will only be 1 winner though, Ryder has took this fight too soon but can come back for the loss
