The WBO has gained recently in comparison to the WBA and WBC and their proliferation of belts. Notwithstanding whether you agree with their rankings and who deserves a title fight, at least you tend to know where you are in terms of who their champion is. It's got that bad across the other snactioning bodies that that can be held up as a plus point! Jeez
Agrees with your first comment. Although being Ring champ would be better. The WBA title, Interim/Super/Regular etc is no better than the WBO in my opinion. If Cleverly beats Kovalev then he's up there with the best, WBO title or not.
Agree with that last sentence.Over the last few years, its had equal prestige with the other bodies. But many years ago,it was a way for British boxers to grab a title, and was known as the {Name we can't type in}Boxing Organisation.
He is stepping it up. It's a great fight, but I feel a few fights down the line perhaps would have suited Groves a bit better. (Froch a bit older\Groves more experienced). But I guess it would be silly to turn down such a big opportunity. It's a better fight than against Stieglitz. :good I reckon the fight against DeGale will have given Groves some big fight experience though. Tough fight to call, Froch must be favorite but you cannot right off a motivated Groves.
i respect any title have you got one in boxing they don't give em away you gota step in the ring stop hating fighters
 Yes it is easy to see how Calzaghe lasted all "them" years with the WBO - defeat all the top contenders in the division, then when they agree to unify, defeat the other title holders.
A belt is only as good as the boxer who holds it. In the heavyweight division the WBO is as good as the IBF, WBA and IBO because by winning it, it would mean you have beaten the number 1 heavyweight in the world.
I don't respect ANY title or champion that hasn't or won't meet the best, you know especially those fights that ALL of Boxing know should be made to determine who the real man is. Boxing is littered with such champions and especially today with 16 fight title shots, approx 40 - 50 contenders to choose as an opponent and careers locked up in fighting lesser competition. these ARE NOT champions, never have been nor ever will be, loads of guys could have beaten them, taken their seat and wore a crown had they been allowed to meet them. the People's Champion is often the very best and the fighters, managers and boxing insiders know it!
But the casual fans do not always. And isn't the primary function of every fighter is to make as much money as you can for as little damage as possible? Thus the W(N)BA can 'father' the likes of the WBC, IBF and WBO, because there is a market for their titles...
