    :yep

If the grasp of fundamentals of Omar and Julio Jr. give us any indication of what he imparted on them from a young age, JC Superstar probably shouldn't be training anybody.

Sort of an inverse of the old "those who can't do, teach".

Jr needs a trainer he respects and will listen to. He told Roach how\when he was going to train and has told his Dad in the past he can't come to camp or be in his corner. Maybe that's because Sr won't tolerate\accept Jr being lazy and call him out on it, which surprisingly Roach didn't seem to do. Jr needs to decide if he wants to a legit fighter or he just does 'this boxing ****' for easy money. Clearly his Dad had the former attitude for the majority of his career and if Jr can either be taught this attitude or simply absorb it by being around his Father then we'll see how far he can go. How good a trainer Sr is will rely on how patient he can be with Jr learning what he has to teach him, which of course will mean nothing if Jr doesn't commit to learning...

He should just pay his Father to babysit his sorry A..SS and not train him:rofl
His Father is NOT a trainer but in respect you have a valid point that SR will not take crap from his stain rag son:smoke

Supposedly Sr taught himself how to box. He'd watch other fighters and pick out things they'd do and practice them himself. If this is true then I'm sure he could be at the very least a decent trainer.

Emmanuel Steward who trained Chavez Sr. for the Randall rematch has said many times who underrated Chavez' boxing skills were to the public.

Emmanuel Steward-"Chavez taught me things during training camp I did'nt even know about."

At this point with Jr. not listening to Roach and lacking dicipline, Sr. just might be the best for him.

If anything, a father is harder on his son. You dont cut corners with your pops looking on.

If Jr. is going to escalate to a level he's never been at before, its certainly not going to be with Roach.

Sr. imo is a great move, and he'll have helpers that know how to train by his side to help him out.

Alex Ariza is being kept as the strenghth and nutrition coach. On to the next chapter.

the only thing that jr. needs is dicipline, i really love the way hi fight, a lot of preassure and that terrific hook to the liver, i think that the best performance of the jr was against andy lee

JCC Sr. can teach Jr. how to throw a punch and what he needs to do to cut-off the ring, but he WILL NEVER be able to teach Jr. how to have the will to win and determination. Plus, Jr. doesn't seem to have a high ring I.Q. Wiggling your hips and sticking out your tongue does not score points for you.

    Excellent post. :good

Most of the naysayers of this move are probably looking at this purely from a technical point of view. While Roach may be better than Sr in that aspect, it's clear that Sr is a no nonsense tough guy who might be able to get through to Jr a little better. He's his son after all. I wouldn't be so quick to write him off, even if he doesn;t enjoy immediate success with him.
